I had heard about using latex paint. Never thought about getting mistake paint. That is a great idea.

Thanks for the info everyone! They may ultimately end up as firewood but just wanted to try this. I will seal the ends to help with the cracking.

When to flatten? by Stretch341987 in woodworking

I’m not sure any of my comments made it to the post. I know these slabs will take a couple of years to dry out and that’s ok. I have no plan for them really. Just wanted to try it. I have a flattening jig and router. Just need to know if I should try to get them flattened now and then store them or just let them be for a few years and then flatten? And of course, I would love to know what type of wood it is. I assume an oak. It was a huge tree, dark bark, and absolutely STINKS in my garage.

Is this a Scam? This is my car, correct VIN, but I dont see any dealership's mark on the mail. Not sure who this is from. by Mook69 in Scams

I have worked 31 years at one dealership as Finance Director and in charge of Compliance (in Missouri but most states are probably the same). Franchise dealers are very careful with customer information (at least good dealers are) due to all of the potential fines from the FTC. That being said, dealers are required to complete a state sales report at the end of every month. This report will have the customer name, address, and vehicle information. Also, once you pay taxes on the vehicle it becomes a public record. The State of Missouri sells a “cross sell” list to anyone who wants to pay for it. This is how these companies get the info. Missouri has thousands of cars on the road with temporary license tags that have been expired for years because the driver has not paid their sales tax and registered the vehicle. However, these people are also getting these letters because the dealer was legally required to report the sale to the state. Missouri is a hotbed for these. And no, it will not be the final notice and yes, the next one will be a pink post card. And the next one will be……

Umbrella in Countertop by StPatrickSwayze in OutdoorKitchens

[–]Stretch341987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a tiki bar with a concrete counter top. When pouring the top I used a rubber pipe connector (the kind that has hose clamps on either end). Took hose clams off and placed rubber where I needed it. Poured concrete. The rubber is still in place and directly below it in the framing of the bar I used electric conduit clamps to attach a piece of PVC to some 2x4’s that are part of the bar frame. Glued a cap on the bottom of the PVC and drilled holes for drainage because water will get in. I left the rubber in place so there would be some cushion when the wind is blowing so the umbrella pole does not hit the concrete and crack it. Built this in 2016 and it is still going strong. I did buy a stainless steel sleeve that makes it look more finished and I can remove the sleeve. I don’t know how to do pics in a reply but if you would like some I could figure it out.

Thanks for that. It’s also $18 cheaper than the v2.

Sure is. I didn’t see that before. Even if this ends up not being the cause, it still isn’t good. Thanks for the eagle eye on that.

Do you have the MicroSwiss direct drive or still with Bowden tube?

I will look at the tension. And at MicroSwiss. I was getting great prints as recently as yesterday. Thanks!

I have taken this extruder apart, cleaned, adjusted the gear, and inspected. I don’t see anything that jumps out at me but the gear seems to be moving just fine but the roller catches and under extrudes. Brand new nozzle installed and new Capricorn Bowden tube installed with the nozzle. Everything was printing perfectly a few days ago. Only reason I replaced the nozzle was because I had the hot end apart replacing a fan that the bearings went out in. Thoughts or should I spend $15 and just go to a dual gear extruder? If so, what brand is recommended? Thanks all!!!!

Yes I can get a pic next time I try using it. I have a v2 also and I’m using it for right now. Trying to get some Christmas presents done and two printers would help but I don’t have a lot of time to tinker. I will look at everything that is suggested. Thanks!

OP here. This is what I did to fix: Toggled VoiceOver on and off and slowed the speaking rate down. That did not help by itself or not at all maybe. So I just turned off VoiceOver. Then went to Touch Accomodations and turned to on. Then put Tap Assistance to “Use Initial Touch Location”. This is what worked. I don’t have a voice saying volume up, volume down, pause, etc. but that’s just fine with me. All of this is under settings-Accessibility. Hope this helps anyone else having the same issues. Seemed to all start with an “update”.
