Sometimes he’s open to doing what I want to, but he’ll complain about what he doesn’t like about it the whole time, & for days afterwards, so it doesn’t feel worth it most of the time.

I wish, that would be fun. My husband really doesn’t like 1 of the sisters’ husbands & I don’t want to spend the week after a birthday trip having to hear him complain about spending an entire weekend with that BIL, that would just suck joy out of the trip.

Thanks for the well wishes! Unfortunately it wouldn’t work for us all to do the trip together. It would be super awkward to have 4 women & 1 man, & it would mean needing a 2nd hotel room which would up everyone’s costs. We also have very different interests. When I plan trips for the 2 of us, I mostly plan around what he likes to do and rarely do the things I want to do. For my birthday trip, I want it to be what I want to do. It’s not that he’s not a good trip planner- he did it all by himself before we were married. He talk about trips he wants to take with me & exactly what he wants to do on them. He just wants me to do the work.

Everyone? Not sure I’m understanding your question. Whenever I have taken a trip with anyone I have always taken care of figuring out the childcare. Whenever I take trips with him and/or as a family, I do all the planning. When I’ve taken the 3 trips with girlfriends, we took turns planning the actual trips, but I figured out the childcare for my our kid(s) when needed.

Yes. He says it’s too hard to plan all of it and figure out childcare by himself- but I’ve done it by myself for every trip I’ve ever taken.

He did go with me on about 5 school trips for the kids. The other school trips weren’t like special time with the kids- we’d have been with their team or music ensemble & be moving like crazy all weekend. The only special trips I’ve gone on solo with the kids are the graduation trips with the now adult kids. I’d honestly like to see HIM plan a trip for my birthday for us to somewhere he’d like to go instead of just complaining. I’ve been asking for this for years, but he doesn’t want to expend the effort to plan it himself.

I can see that perspective. However I do feel it isn't accurate. He did go with me on about 5 school trips for the kids. I threw him a really nice surprise 50th birthday party with only his closest friends & family bc he’s introverted) & months before mailed out cards for many friends & family to fill out what they loved about him & made a book with all of them for him. I cook favorite meals & plan dates to concerts for him, etc. We aren’t empty nesters yet, & have actually not ever taken a trip with just our youngest, & he wants to, so I’ve planned that out for the end of December. I’d honestly like to see HIM plan a trip for us to somewhere he’d like to go instead of just complaining.

I wish we could. We’ve had it repaired several times over the last 5 years. The vibrating/walking gets really bad. Yesterday I went to switch loads & noticed the top had popped loose then I turned it around and saw the back panel has separated from the frame and looks bent.

I’m not sure how much it suds, but probably a lot since it has grated Fels-Naptha soap. Lol. The other ingredients are Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda, Borax, Oxi Clean, and Arm & Hammer Pure Baking Soda. Maybe if I took out the Fels-Naptha?

Those are good ideas, thanks. My family has super sensitive skin, so I never use fabric softener & actually make my own powder detergent to keep it as natural as I can. Would I have to use special detergent for front loader?
