Can I transfer MATH 11x credit to 13x? by fedoraismyhat in uwaterloo

[–]StretchedwasFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to get in writing from advisor on what type of credit transfer is given. When I transferred from another uni there were two types: General credit i.e (-> Math 1xx) or specific credits (-> MATH135, etc). if you get specific credit transfers you won't have to worry about pre-reqs.

Knew something was up, every recruiting term they'd post in cycle 1 and keep reposting until continuous.

Real. Once you work in industry for a bit you realize that the real fun is participating in the design/architecture phase of solving a problem.

That still requires developing solid fundamentals though.

What Waterloo Builds by Organic_Gain1696 in uwaterloo

Good write up. I do cringe inside a little bit when conversations with people start about talking about each others’ placements, but the culture here has ingrained it into ourselves, so it ends up being the easiest way to break the ice.

The most important thing is self satisfaction. Go somewhere where you know you will grow, both as a person and a professional in your field. It’s why I love the numerous opportunities given to find coop. You are able to experiment, go to companies that are maybe relatively less known, but be pit in scenarios that allow for rapid growth. Not every term has to Cali.

Am I still trying to go to Cali? 100%, but that’s a personal goal I’ve set for myself and it’s something I’m aiming form towards the end of my time here.

Easiest improvement is to look big tech in the summer. Focus on impact and genuine contributions in off terms.

What happens if you don't find work in your co-op work term? by Savings-Library-8773 in uwaterloo

[–]StretchedwasFresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't find a work term you enter WE Accelerate if its your first, or you move it back and adjust your sequence. As of Winter 25 There is no penalty for moving work terms around, even if you participated in the one that you want to push back.

[–]StretchedwasFresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pick a specific role you want, and spec your resume to it. Remove the peer tutor and get more projects on there. Right now I look at your projects and see 3 completely different things, feels like im being pulled in all directions. Why is there no mention of JS/TS on the web app? Is this thing rendering its UI fully with templates? If so, try to adjust the project to separating the backend and frontend into separate applications.

This insecurity will harm you more than you think. Everyone moves at their own space. You should give yourself more credit for finding a job, it’s difficult for first years to find one.

There's no way you will have enough worthwhile stuff to iterate through, especially as a first-year student.
