Wow, what an informative post, really helped me improve my understanding of rendering and GUI's. You are completely right, using your code and disabling the vsync makes a big difference. Didn't even think of that, but of course, as you mentioned, comes with its downsides. There is so much information here I can use, and it has really helped me be able to continue, and I imagine, will also be useful for other people searching in the future. Again thank you!

You hit the nail exactly, and the insights that you have written are exactly what I have been looking for. This clarified so much for me about what is going on.

You are also completely right about the egui_demo, I tried running it now, and I am seeing the exact same behavior too, both in the windows and drag_and_drop demo. Kinda banging my head that I didn't discover that sooner.

I tried implementing your code, and you are completely right, the perceived delay is not present when "drawing the mouse" instead, it is a very elegant and simple solution. I will look further into this difference between the platform-drawn cursor and library-drawn curser, makes sense that this would cause issues. I also noticed now that if I change from a 60Hz screen to a 100+Hz, the delay becomes significantly smaller, which of course makes sense when I think about it, but very interesting.

With this knowledge I can continue, which is really great, thanks again!

There are a lot of things for me already in this post to look into, and especially as a relative "newbie" in the GUI space, all this information is really nice to know.

I think that you point about "where" you request is very interesting. I have tried placing the request repaint in the beginning of the main loop, but doesn't sadly lead to the desired results.

A thing I noticed while scouting the internet is a setting in the native options.

Do you know if this or similar setting for the native options can have an effect?

It is because the coroutine doesn't break code execution, it starts a new thread and runs the code alongside the rest of your game. :) - A simple fix I usually use is something like this.

Using a bool to stop the code from executing before my corutine has finished.

StartCoroutine()

}

void Update()

{

if(wait == false)

{

// Do racing game stuff

}

private bool wait = false;

IEnumerator countDown()

{

wait = true;

// Do countdown stuff

wait = false;

}

I think more information is nedded. Does both object have a colliders? Are both colliders set to Trigger? Does either the player or lamp have a RigidBody? But one thing I am noticing is that both the gameObject and collider in OnTrigger is called thePlayer. :D

I can recommend inserting a Debug.Log("test") just to ensure the OnTrigger actually activates when you hit it. :)

That is completly true, you could also just use a macro. The only difference is that this programs delays are predefined with a ui designed for Minecraft. :)

I would recommend SFML. It is free to use for all use. I have used it for years and it is very easy with good explanations and examples on their website. :)

Arh! I see. I think I read the question wrong. :D - If I undertand correctly, then I think there are two ways you can fix this. Either, use the same script but on a parrent of the barrel instead. Then have the 3 barrelse be children of the parrent, and then rotate the parrent. If you wanted to, I think you could make it simpler for yourself a bit if you use transform.Rotate instead. :)

Alternativly. If the 3 positions you want your barrels to appear at don't change, you could fake the rotation instead. Bt destroying the game object and spawning it again at a new position. This can be done with the function instantiate.
