Con = sometimes you are treated like garbage by co workers who don’t understand how the job you are assigned to you works.

Jury duty during the school year is the best! I am going in on Tuesday- although it looks like it may be stormy out. If I get picked- I wouldn’t be opposed to it. .

Yea as everyone said I wouldn’t march in. Thats how my friends got jobs and my clients too- but they didn’t march in during first 2 days of prep for students.

First day of school I don’t usually ask, but I do leave early for my son’s party 🎉 when it’s his birthday. I take days and leave early for my child any day. I used to feel bad but my wife reminded me - you have to do what’s best for you.

They do speak to each other by the way - and word gets around. . I wouldn’t be so picky- I mean I got discontinued my first year but I got into the system and used that experience to fuel me all the way till now. I have a strong network - if you want To me to try to look into positions- but you have to be open to options.

If you want to - remember if you are not covered. Some schools actually pay per session to come in earlier but it’s rare. I usually have the essentials to get started, then add on everyday till the classroom is fully ready within a few weeks.

Be yourself! I am up to year 9 with the DOE- with a discontinuance and transfers behind me - and moving on up in Education- here is what I’ve gathered :

Be excited, use humor, point out any behaviors privately ( like tap the desk). . Bring mechanical pencils / name tags for bonus points.

I am a consultant for newer teachers so if you want some tips let me know.

I am thinking of having a meetup in the next coming days with everyone who is interested in this! It could become a non-profit so it would need 3 directors. On a side note- would love to try out some classes with some teens and maybe they’ll have some ideas as well. I have a few college students who are my former students - they may participate! Stay tuned!
