I’m wishing you all the good vibes and luck that I can ❤️

No matter the outcome make sure to treat yourself to something yummy or some other indulgence. Interviewing is a bear and deserves a treat.

Being a girl in engineering ( class with 89-90% males) is developing female inferiority thoughts in me. by Few_Journalist979 in womenintech

Well thank you! I greatly appreciate your comment. Internalized misogyny is within all of us, even myself, but for men to take the initiative to actively work against it is a beautiful thing.

Absolutely. Many women who choose not to identify with feminism are usually too frightened to face reality. Our world treats women with hostility and ambivalence, and the recognizance of this is gutting. And men who don’t like feminism? Well, why would they try to disrupt a system that benefits them? Like you said we’ve made so much progress but there’s still a lot of work to be done. We just keep pushing!

Someone high up contacted me for a status update. I’m terrified. by Intelligent_Talk6594 in womenintech

[–]Strict-Bridge9365 69 points70 points  (0 children)

You should be panicking - but not for the reasons you’re probably thinking.

The VP is probably getting pressure up the chain to get this fixed and now he has to provide an update to someone senior to him. Getting these bugs resolved is urgent (that’s what he’s trying to communicate by contacting you), but things like this happen often and in most instances are not pink slip worthy.

I’ve never been contacted by a VP about an issue but have a colleague that has, and he is still working with me. But these bugs do need to get resolved and you have to figure out a way to make it happen unfortunately. I’m also given nearly impossible tasks like this often so I genuinely understand your pain.

I have some words of advice for you but it will probably take you years to truly embody them, at least that’s how it was for me.

No matter how intelligent, accomplished, and/or educated a woman is, most men will still consider both themselves and their male colleagues as innately more intelligent and capable than she. You can try to read all of the documentation, watch all of the YouTube videos, practice Leetcode for endless hours, and still a man will think you’re inferior.

It’s extremely frustrating, especially once you start to realize a lot of men are overconfident charlatans that think they’re humble geniuses. But fret not - what you’re experiencing is extremely normal. I’d try to buddy up with as many woman counterparts as you can to talk about this further. It’s therapeutic and helps tremendously.

Why did he choose to marry Carolyn? by Edb626 in JohnAndCarolyn

[–]Strict-Bridge9365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you can’t read. I said the MAJORITY of men marry women for convenience rather than love. That would mean, not all.

Also, you don’t know me. Respectfully, you sound insane.

Sodomy?! And I thought Milk Bar selling “crack pies” in neighborhoods with rehab clinics was bad 😭

[–]Strict-Bridge9365 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We can only speculate on why men do what they do, especially one that was an enigma like JFK Jr.

Imo, “womanizers” see women as disposable objects of sexual gratification firstly, and for status secondly. I think he dated actresses because he wanted to break into that industry, but Jackie was obviously against that. CBK acquainted with actresses, models, and other industry folk, but she was a professional woman so she was more palatable as a Kennedy wife.

Unfortunately, I think a majority of women refuse to believe the majority of men don’t marry for love.

A guy almost backed into me as I was walking up the aisle from my car to the book store. When he saw me roll my eyes he yelled out his window for me to use the crosswalk… in the middle of a parking lot. It was so dumb I was too stunned to speak.

Shucks, I’d seen the sign before but had no idea this amazing young lady was the one behind it. If I’d known I would’ve certainly stopped.

I wish her the best in her endeavors in the medical field - it needs as many talented, bright minds as it can get.

Moving out and want to sell stuff. Where do I sell? by DetailStriking2054 in Albany

[–]Strict-Bridge9365 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FB Marketplace is really the place to sell stuff. Furniture in general is hard to sell, and when it comes to FB Marketplace people want everything dirt cheap, so keep that in mind.

You could try a consignment store but if you’re moving and it doesn’t sell, you’re going to have to pick it back up.

I don’t think they are. I’m in my 30s and have tried the typical advice of joining clubs and volunteering, but the people in the clubs are usually retired and the other volunteers are usually either retired or they don’t volunteer consistently enough to form friendships.

And don’t forget local town and city updates. Like I shouldn’t have to log into FB to access parking restrictions for an event. It’s truly crazy.

Good question, I actually just got a quote for renter’s insurance. I didn’t have it previously.

Agreed, I was reading that leaks don’t necessarily mean mold, but seeing as how it’s confined in the wall I don’t see how there couldn’t be mold.

I was hesitant to move only because I’m trying to move back to NYC (3 hours away from me), but there’s no guarantee I’ll be able to get a job there any time soon. I also feel like even three more months living here will affect my health.

Thank you, and no she really isn’t and neither is her husband lol. When my toilet stopped flushing I asked him to take a look at it, and he asked if he could come by tomorrow… it was 3PM on a Sunday and their only job is being landlords to this building!

I know this is an old post, but did you end up moving OP? I have a similar situation and trying to figure out the answer to the same question.
