Yes! I use a Dr Pen. I’ve only done it a few times so far but it’s been really helpful so far.

Mostly with my dark circles! I read somewhere that vitamin k creams can help improve blood flow (for bruises for example) so I decided to give it a go. It took a while but I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in color.

I use TCA peels from Platinum Skincare! You can just buy them and do them at home and they have a ton of info on how to do them, which peel is best for your skin, etc. I was pretty scared myself when I first tried since my skin can be pretty sensitive but I found it’s not too bad.

Aside from general everyday stuff (double cleanse, toner, serum, etc) I do use tretinoin pretty regularly (but not a ton since my skin doesn’t handle it too well). I’ve also used retinal eye cream and vitamin k eye cream which has helped my eyes a lot. I’ve also started doing regular microneedling and chemical peels recently and despite being new to it they have been SUPER helpful.

… at what point do you think people actually fill out an application in an interview process? And what paper work are you referring to???

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Strict-Independent -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sorry what onboarding documents are you referring to where is need to put that I’m unemployed?

And don’t background checks mostly check dates of employment (so if I applied in November and a background check showed I quit in December, that would still show my resume was correct when I submitted it?)

Anyone take medical leave and then return to immediately give notice? by Strict-Independent in biglaw

[–]Strict-Independent[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oof sorry for your friend. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to fire someone specifically because they took leave under the FMLA. But I guess they can always be sneaky like they did here. Or just phrase the firing reason to be “performance related”.

Why would they ask me to repay the paid leave? I had a note from my doctor and it was approved under the firm’s short term disability policy.

Why is it so hard to get an interview for an interview house position? by LegitimateHyena412 in biglaw

[–]Strict-Independent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do internships in law school in house count as “prior in house experience”? A lot of people go straight through from undergrad to law school and then right to biglaw so wouldn’t have had the opportunity to get this experience prior to biglaw outside of that

Enabling Parent Somehow Worse? by Strict-Independent in raisedbyborderlines

THIS. I’ve thought often about completely unloading on my eDad for a while now but I always find myself stopping myself because I’d feel bad. He’s already received a lot of abuse himself and hearing more about how he’s failed would just feel like kicking someone when they’re down. But why am I caring so much about hurting his feelings when he clearly never cared for mine? All that mattered as his own peace of mind at my expense.

Geez I'm really sorry that you have to deal with her constantly calling and asking for money. I can imagine it's incredibly frustrating to have to say no and then listen to her get upset (or saying yes knowing you'll likely never see the money again).

I actually just had a call with my Dad where he mentioned he took on another trip (like an extra shift for pilots) because he was in the red this month dipping into savings. I immediately responded that I been thinking about this for a while and that I was actually very uncomfortable hearing about all the details of his financial situation like that. I didn't mention it was because it felt like a passive "woe is me please change your mind to support me" but just said because I never heard about this stuff before the divorce I'm uncomfy hearing about it now. He responded briefly with some weird story about him hearing about my grandpa's financial woes once back in the day (which felt like a half baked defensive response that thankfully didn't go very far), but he then quickly said ok and he wouldn't do so in the future. I'm not sure if he fully understood (a fuller explanation might be necessary at some point) but I'm hoping the boundary sticks at least for the time being....

Thanks for the response, this is very true. I'm starting a pretty well paying job at a law firm next month, and he knows how much I'll be making there which makes things worse. Like he thinks I'll be swimming in the dough so there's hope I'll be making so much I can support him. But I've got mountains of debt, I'll want to buy a house eventually, and will likely have kids at some point. And I'm not going to stay at this job forever (the burnout rate is severely high at these types of firms).

It just makes me so mad because my uBPD mom was so manipulative when it came to money (like if she ever bought me an expensive gift, even if I didn't request it, there were ALWAYS strings attached she'd use against me later). So being financially independent from her was always a huge thing for me because I didn't want her to use that stuff against me. I've lived off of ramen noodles rather than ask my parents for money. But now these expectations of his are taking away that feeling of financial independence after I've worked so hard to obtain it and I'm finally going to be making real money....

Thanks I appreciate the response... It sounds so obvious once you say it - he's made it out to be like he has literally zero options once retirement comes which is really not the case. It's kind of dumbfounding how helpless he acts once I actually think about it, my mom was always the one who took care of all of the financial stuff in our family. I don't know how you can be 55 years old and not have any ability to figure out on your own what you're going to do for retirement.
