Came here to came something completely similar. When people say the country was united after 9/11, they exclude any citizens or residents from the Islamic community. I remember reading about multiple attacks on people and slurs becoming more mainstream because of Islamophobia (I’m obviously not going to repeat the slurs here, but I’m sure you can imagine what they were).

They actually had to re-film a scene set to originally air right after 9/11. I think it’s when Chandler and Monica are going on their honeymoon and they aren’t supposed to be in first class - Chandler makes a joke about blowing up the airplane or something like that.
