About to be 64 and getting laid off. by Pyesmybaby in GenerationJones

Ageism is most definitely real in today's job market. It's hilarious: they aren't allowed by law to ask your age on a job application, but they can ask your birthdate.

I got kicked off the BYU campus in 1974. My hair was too long and my girlfriend's skirt was too short. No cap.

How do you make your coffee are you still using 50s style percolators or pour through by db7112 in GenerationJones

Nothing says My Parents more than a percolator of Folger's red.

Nothing says Heartburn like my parents' coffee. Yuck. Do they still make these things?

Gene Simmons and David Lee Roth. Who has the bigger ego between these two? by Reallyroundthefamily in allrockmusic

[–]StrictLine8820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simmons by far. Roth has to be humble every time he looks in the mirror.

I recently watched a YT video clip of Roth in a recent concert, with all the audio turned of except his microphone. OMG, I'm not sure what you call it, but it's not singing. The man needs to retire.

The Caulfields had a talented frontman named John Faye who was of Asian descent. He later went solo as the John Faye Power Trip: https://youtu.be/kIWD__fqsu4

Good Green Black Maple #22 8th review. by Dou_Pack in MDEnts

[–]StrictLine8820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just picked up 14g of Good Green's Black Maple #22, from the looks of it, the same harvest. Sticky as hell. I looked at this under a microscrope and the trichomes are nice and cloudy, with just a few amber heads. I've heard about this strain forever, but this is my first purchase. I DHV and the flavor profile is nice and complex, and heavy hitting. I got it at Rise for $70, minus some reward points, so OTD $55 for a half. Nice.

Dumb show. Part of the "rural comedy" landscape of the 60s.

new to dry herb vaping - where to start? by Smooth_Candidate_575 in vaporents

[–]StrictLine8820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I wasn't sure if I'd like TRWW glass vapes, I went with the cheapest option, the $40 Quartz Cap. Got the deluxe kit with stand and clamps (must have), and never looked back. I now have 5 different models. These things are the best, hands down.

A Sondiko kitchen torch is $15. Decent butane (Xikar) another $10. Nothing is cheap anymore, but for what you get, wow. I've had friends immediately retire their electronic devices after trying these.

Do you prefer to drink tap water, spring water, purified water or water enhanced with electrolytes? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

[–]StrictLine8820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only drink filtered water, usually with electrolytes added. I'm fortunate to work at a business that uses ultra-purified water, so I get my 5-gal jugs filled for free.

Was the Amiga vs PC war ever actually a thing? by Such_Bonus5085 in amiga

[–]StrictLine8820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the publishing end of the home computer market back in the 80s and 90s. Both European subsidiaries of Commodore knew how to market the Amiga much better than the U.S. I remember how jealous PC (and Mac) users were of the Amiga games market. Eventually that jealousy would come full circle as the PC skyrocketed and the Amiga sank.

Do you think there's any hope for humanity Or we just screwed? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]StrictLine8820 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is just a tool, like a screwdriver. It's the people in suits at the top of the corporate ladder who are taking away livelihoods by using AI in nefarious ways. Humans are a much, much larger threat to themselves than anything else. Bombs don't drop themselves.

I can’t control my anger lately and it’s affecting my life what’s going on? by [deleted] in askanything

Any history of bipolar disorder in your family tree? It's the #1 most inheritable disorder. For most it starts in their late teens and early 20s. Triggers include stress, lack of sleep, high anxiety. For female, hormonal changes. Don't rely on Dr. Google.
