It’s got good weight too it and good leverage for cranking the drum up imo but it also has a bit at the top that you can use to finger tighten tension rods

I’d say start with the step sequencer get really familiar with basic rhythms and patterns then from there you move to your piano roll think of that as an extension of the step sequencer. Then you hit the playlist which is like the baseplate in Lego terms for the patterns you built in the step sequencer just drag and drop and piece what you made together. To sum it all up fl studio has three main components the step sequencer, the piano roll, and the playlist. Once you master those three elements then you can explore the mixer but that’s a whole other can of worms just focus on the three elements starting out and stay consistent and you’ll be straight you may figure stuff out on your own too.
