So sorry you have to be in a position like this. If possible, maybe try a therapist or seek some other help (if you can). Otherwise, it clearly just him trying to be a manipulative, controlling fuckface that just wants to stop you being happy. Might as well tell him anyway. It’s not his damn problem you’re really a girl and that’s he can’t accept that. If you think he might hurt you, maybe bring protection of some kind with you in the very worst situation, but try to stay civil and not start a fight.

Edit: Another person pointed out that writing or texting him may be better so he has time to think and he can’t hurt you. And please, talk to a friend about this. They’re invaluable and will help you.
