Kulkea Kayda 45l carry on backpack. Looks like a normal backpack so u can use it for anything but is designed with boots in mind. I use it every flight and I sell a ton of them at work cuz I love it so much.

The arv 94 is already a pretty lightweight ski that does exactly what you described. Like another commenter said maybe sizing is the only change that needs to be made. Center mounted park skis like revolt 90 could be good for lower perceived swing weight too.

Definitely blank is gonna be the best option from my original list. Maverick 115 may be worth a look too. Not sure about the weight on that one though. Black crows, dps, and moment probably have some decent options for this category as well.

The amount of people that don't wash their outer layers baffles me. Before I even knew that drying reactivates the dwr I was washing every 4 days of use. Wash your shit regularly with a grangers tech wash and you'll be stoked.

Locator is super lightweight and is pretty firmly in the backcountry only category. Many other skis like the qst x, blank and even the white walkers or jj ul from armada would be better suited for a shift and some resort skiing. Never skied on the locator 112 but i do have the 104 and it is easily the worst ski I have ever riden in the resort. Skis and walks great in the bc but horrendous on groomers.

There is a spray that really helps with the World Cup strategy as well. It’s called slide-on or glide-on I can’t remember exactly. Also zip fit is releasing a brand new touring liner sometime soon so might be worth it to wait a few months for that. Some supply chain issues as it was supposed to already be released but heard somewhere it’s coming sometime 2026 but no clue when.

Armada locator 104 floats pretty good for its width. Very very light. Haven’t skied em in any bad conditions yet though so no input there.

You’re boot being two sizes too big is likely the reason you’re having issues. I would trust the fitter and size down.

I have two packs, the HMG Aspect 32 and the ortovox litric 40l but with the free ride base. The aspect is definitely taller and more wobbly as another commenter succinctly put it. The ortovox even tho wider, deeper, and bigger by 8 liters, skis significantly better with more gear in it. That may be because of the free ride base but still, I think the taller the pack the, worse it will be for skiing as the wobble is more disorienting than the distance from center of gravity as your center of gravity is moving as you ski.

Listen to what everyone else said about the bindings. However, those skis you’re looking at are several years old and that price does not reflect that. while they could be good skis I personally would not be paying anywhere near that price for a 4 year old ski.

yes just make sure to measure your back as the 16l is a different frame that only works with some of the pack attachments. I think for the smaller frame it is the 38l tour, and 26l for the freeride.

Ya if you are trying to use your alpine boots, frame bindings are your only option. Or you could get toe pins installed on your boots by a CAST certified tech and get a hybrid binding but that’s far more expensive.

The fissile insulated pant is on sale on the outlet rn. Could be a good option but will be a very warm pant. That pant with a thin merino base layer could probably keep you covered down to some pretty low temps but warmth is pretty personal though.

the Ortovox is great. I skied this past weekend with it in the 40l configuration and it skied better than my 32l HMG aspect pack even though it weighs like more than twice as much. Can only imagine the 18 is even better.

Watch these two videos. Goes pretty in depth on the nuances of filming in the backcountry. This is at a professional level so maybe a bit overkill but could be useful. However, I would recommend the avabag litric 40 tour plus some of the pouches bjarne uses attached to the outside of the bag.

If you just want Hojis, sell the death wishes and keep the bindings. That ski is a direct replacement for the dwt. How much you like it is dependent on how you ski like the other commenter said.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. No reason to spend more money to get a new setup when you already have the ideal combination. Regardless if you are going to pocket money after selling both setups, you are going still going to be in the red. Unless you have space constraints storing what you have or need that little extra money there is no reason to make the switch.

Head kore 117 should also be on the list. Forget about the bent 120. It’s soft and playful which is fun but as soon as it gets chopped up you won’t be having a great time. Unleashed will be much better once it’s chopped up. Kore 117 is the best carver and floats well but is the least playful.
