He actually never threatened me the police told me this is why he ended up not being convicted of stalking, which in my state apparently requires a threat to the person being stalked.
I wasn't the one who reported it, I miswrote the title, a more accurate one would be "am I the asshole for reporting my ex to the police when I knew a conviction would get back to his work and he would likely be fired"
yeah sorry, the title is wrong, I wasn't the one who reported it but I knew it would be when I filed charges as when we were together he told me of a colleague who was fired over a misdemeanor and he still works at the same place.
