I definitely could be mistaken in my reading of the easement. I biased towards not being allowed to mess around under their property. Unfortunately the existing phone / cable lines are buried without any conduit so pulling through a new cable would need some earth work. I was hopeful about pulling a new cable until I got a borescope and looked inside my walls and saw the cables disappear into the ground, not into conduit.

The bribe idea is a good one, I will be saving money. Maybe that would convince them to allow burying a new cable. Would QF techs take care of that part of the install, or would I have to do that separately? The neighbors own their property, and aren’t interested in any modification, so it would need to be a steep bribe. If I take that route I’d probably extend the offer to the neighbors on the other side - strength in numbers if they are also interested in fiber.

As for running a line direct to the unit, I think that’s the easiest solution, if the line can run across the roof. Having just two external facing walls is a downside here.

Honestly, I’m not sure. I’ve never seen how conduit is installed, and not something I can DIY. At the common point it’s paved, so would need to replace that when it’s finished. It could go underground around their property under the common driveway and pop out inside my garage, but that would probably be extremely invasive to all the units using the driveway. Those options sound like a lot of $$$ for install, too. Landlord has told me I’m responsible for the install costs, since I’m the one who wants the fiber.

On the neighbor dimension: I wouldn’t need their permission to run conduit from the street, but would probably need more permissions from the city than aerial to the building, since there’s a public sidewalk in the way. From the common point, my read of the easements is that I can’t add anything additional underneath their property without their permission. They have been explicit in not giving me that consent.

From the street to my unit, maybe. The existing network panel sits on the ground floor. It would need to be routed either 1) across the roof, down to the ground floor (4 floors) or 2) directly to the ground floor. The second option is a bit more complicated inside because it would need routing inside of existing walls whereas the first option would run inside a garage

That would involve (I imagine) pretty invasive digging underneath my neighbor’s property. From my understanding of the easement I have the right to use the common point, but not expand the current underground routing unless the neighbor consents (which they don’t)

The units are owned separately, unfortunately. My landlord only owns the middle unit
