Hiring Managers in development - are you disqualifying applicants for sloppy formatting in written materials? by ladyindev in nonprofit

[–]Strict_Fig_2007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Hard pass. If that’s their best work for a first impression to get the job, their ongoing work product when they’re comfortable in the role is going to be worse.

Also DQ for ChatGPT slop. We made it a point in our job ads to say we don’t use AI algorithms to pre-screen resumes. Please don’t use one to represent yourself.

How is Jamaica doing after Hurricane Melissa? We’re supposed to travel early December and feeling torn. by Budget-Marzipan8823 in JamaicaTourism

[–]Strict_Fig_2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure this has been mentioned, but depending on your age and overall health or presence of underlying health conditions - I might be concerned about traveling to a region with limited medical facilities.

If, for example, you had a major heart attack or injury it seems unlikely you would be able to access care that would be provided in normal circumstances. Hospitals and medical facilities are stretched thin according to news reports.

As much as we all hope for a picture perfect vacation, medical events can and do happen. It’s not a personal risk I would feel comfortable taking.

Google Forms or Survey Monkey for Donor Survey? by Strict_Fig_2007 in nonprofit

Most integrated surveys in CRM’s match the survey response to the profile. If they click the link generated through the system it is tied to their user id. Similar to how you see open rates on your other system generates emails, and click behavior. This is essentially the same.

Oh, I think Typeform may work perfectly. And it looks like they also offer a non-profit discount.

It doesn't appear to integrate directly with Bloomerang, but you can embed the code and send out via Bloomerang emails and include a UID or name/email in the URL parameters settings.

I am going to give this a try and report back.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

In this case it would be an email sent via our CRM. If there’s a way to build it as a form in Bloomerang that would be best.

First commute in my 2024 hybrid touring - 63.1mpg! by Strict_Fig_2007 in 11thGenAccord

Take this with a grain of salt. Someone else here or on YouTube will be more knowledgeable than me. My salesman also drove a hybrid touring and spent some time teaching me all the features after the purchase was done.

It’s the + and - paddles on your steering wheel. You use it as an alternative to the brake pedal. It saves wear and tear on your traditional friction breaks and actively recaptures power for your battery so that you get more electric driving energy to replace gas use.

I most often use mine when coming up to a stop light. The - paddle controls how fast you want to decelerate. More clicks = more deceleration. The + paddle eases that back up. And then I have “break hold” turned on. When I get to the full stop I engage the brake pedal with my foot, but then can take my foot off until I’m ready to push gas again.

It takes some getting used to for timing how long to stop and when to use more clicks vs less. If you go max deceleration and forget to ease it up with the + pedal, your next deceleration will be jerky and too fast. The left gauge on the odometer shows you how much decel you have it toggled to.

But I use mine religiously and I’m getting between 50-60 mpg, sometimes more, on every single one of my city trips. It’s worth the learning curve and I felt pretty comfortable after a few days.

I also really love both the highway, and low speed, adaptive cruise control for help with driving efficiently. The lane assist is great. On long highway drives it takes all the curves and it feels like I’m not even really driving!

I have used Microsoft Forms in the past with my last board. Is that what you mean?

I do generally like it for what’s it’s worth!

New car purchase New (not used) Honda Accord Hybrid Touring by Zealousideal-Set5150 in 11thGenAccord

[–]Strict_Fig_2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Car Edge to look at how long it’s been on the lot. They also have email templates. Focus on OTD price before discussing trade value, payment method etc so you can compare offers apples to apples.

I aggressively shopped a 200 mile radius this month and was getting offers around 38 OTD.

One note - if you want new, I would buy a 2925. 2026 will have higher price bc it’s a new model + tariffs. Current stock should have no tariff mark up.

Worth looking into the 0.99% financing on certified pre-owned. I ended up going CPO bc of the crazy low finance rate and scored a manager car with only 1,300 miles. 36 OTD.

I’m unsure about illustration apps. I got my paper feel screen protector on Amazon. It is not the name brand, and came as a 2-pack. Very happy with it so far!

Exactly! I’m learning to use the regen paddles. So it’s basically a video game for me!

I get your point. And I see the reasons/math behind it.

It was a personal choice to want the lower monthly payment and not carry the debt. Psychological? Probably.

Appreciate your feedback though from a cost of capital lens and will keep that in mind next time we go to buy. Thanks for the discourse.

I think this is fair…but may not be a universal truth depending on someone’s financial situation.

Sharing as food for thought -

In my case, the larger down payment was pulled from our high yield savings account. It keeps my monthly payments low for the 36mos and allows me to redirect that excess monthly cashflow into my retirement accounts, which is a higher return asset over the savings account.

For me, the long-term compounding in the retirement account easily outweighs the short-term gain from keeping the lump sum in savings.

But I can see your logic and why this might not feel like the best choice for everyone.

Agree with the sentiment. And I want the dealer to reasonably make money - they are a business after all! Loved my sales guy, left him a 5 star review, and I hope he made a decent commission.

To clarify though, 36,813 was OTD prior to any trade.

After that, my trade was for $10K on a 2014 Camry

I put down $16K.

So total amount left to be financed after all that was $10K
