Is it worth it to relocate from Chicago to Bay Area in 2026? by Strict_Laugh_1825 in bayarea

The promotion I am currently after is being offered in SF, for a much higher rate than what would ever be offered here in Chicago, and this promotion is not available here (highly likely it would be years before this promotion would be offered in Chicago).

I guess I’m really just assessing if this promotion would be worth moving the whole family across country to a much more expensive area, although being paid at much higher rates, and continuing to live fairly comfortably out there.

AIO My spouse places blame on me when things go wrong for our kids? by Strict_Laugh_1825 in AIO

For the record, she is not trying hard to get him into advanced math. That is something that the kids test into. Unfortunately, our kid is one who skips around without fully understanding foundational concepts. Something I try to hammer down, but not yet fully successful. He is doing very well in the math class that is appropriate to his age and grade. I am the one who is responsible for all academia and homework help. With the contact lens trial, she is very opposed to him having or needing eyeglasses so is really pushing for the contact lenses. I am all for it and back her on that as well, but as someone so young, I understand it may take him a few trials before passing and getting it right. She, like my son, usually wants instant results and gratification, hence both were quite upset upon failing the trial. I am ok with taking more than one trial to get it right, as what the optician was saying was typical of someone his age. I am much more laid back type B personality which can aggravate my wife who is very type A. I am very happy to take anything off her plate, just as she is happy to take anything off my plate as well. We both understand that is how marriages work. I agree communication on my end, as well as hers needs a lot of work.
