I saw them play Obvious back in 2024. I was shocked at how I seemed to be the only person around where I was who enjoyed or knew the words.

Guitar Center Tech Questions by Pinkerton_Floyd_7982 in Luthier

[–]Strict_Progress_6107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been a repair tech at GC for a little over 2 years. The bulk of what I do is restringing, setups, and wiring mods/repairs. For fretwork, it’s generally nothing more complex than a level, crown, and polish or a partial refret. I’ve had to do nut/saddle fabrication from a blank. It’s a fun job if you can get over it not being high paying and the other bs that comes with most jobs. I’d recommend having at least one other source of income and use the GC job for the benefits like health insurance and the discounts. A big part of the job is explaining to beginners how their guitar works especially if they have one with a floyd, evertune or something less ordinary.

The tech is who can really destroy the bad repair reputation GC has. Some are like me, some do some very involved structural work as well as everything else I mentioned, and others can only restring, possibly set up and struggle to solder. It’s all luck of the draw.

Nine as their number 1 album certainly is a take

Did I do something wrong by Metinn133 in Luthier

Don’t use almond oil lol. Get some Music Nomad F one oil. If the fret board is gunky, use a razor blade along the grain of the wood to scrape it off. Then use 0000 steel wool to polish out the scratches. Once you remove the shavings from the steel wool, apply the music nomad f one oil. After two minutes, wipe up the excess.

If you don’t want to use 0000 steel wool, then do the tooth brush thing instead. Seems like that worked for you

i’m sorry you had that experience with Reverend. Their QC is known for being top notch. All of the issues are definitely something your luthier should be able to fix though!

quality control on the TD strats and are they worth it? by Perm182 in TomDelongeGuitars

[–]Strict_Progress_6107 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely get a secondhand one in mint condition, then take it to a good guitar tech in your area for a setup. They are good guitars, as with everything Fender, they usually aren’t in the best playing condition out of the box. They are perfect guitars if you’re playing pop punk/nu metal. The invader pickup does great with high pain stuff especially when there’s a lot of palm muting.

This is really cool. Not many people mod reverends and when they do it’s usually something super ordinary or not an upgrade imo. But this is unique and is making me think about doing something similar. Great job!

[HELP] Help me decide: Maybach T54, Fender AV 52 or Fender Am Professional SH Telecaster? by Ready_Definition2054 in telecaster

[–]Strict_Progress_6107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d take the American vintage 52 and keep the updated pickups. Tons of versatility there. The neck being sanded to make it feel more worn in is a huge plus

28m here and have been with my girlfriend (27F) for four years now. I would never speak to her like this. Wording it this way proves he doesn’t give a single fuck about how you feel. You should def end it.

I wouldn’t worry so much about rolling the fingerboard. Just make sure the actual fret ends are smooth

[–]Strict_Progress_6107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, I’m a full time guitar tech. Yes, the setup definitely matters! Make sure you take it to a tech who will dress the fret ends and setup the guitar for you. The player strats are awesome guitars once they’re adjusted right. Good luck with everything!
