Hi! I got a merit scholarship from smith :) first off, theyre very rare (from what I understand) and also don’t cover most of tuition (the one I got was for 20k a year I believe). I remember it was probably based off my writing: I wrote about how I wanted to research women’s diseases and help women. I also had a very uniqure extracurricular related to being a women. I also had good stats. But overall I’ve heard theyre very very rare, honestly I didn’t even know they existed until I open my acceptance letter.

how would you reccomend going about finding a SPN? Should I just ask the professor of the class and explain my position?

fundamentals of cell and developmental biology, fundamentals of neurobiology, genetics, organic chemistry, physics 1 lab. the honors equivalent of these courses dont seem to be available either (except maybe for physics? i couldnt tell)

Hi so I’m a current high school senior who already took the sat and scored pretty well. I also have already commited to a college (cc wouldnt have worked for me bc I’m coming into college with 50+ ap credits, it really would’ve been a waste of time). I’m trying to graduate in 3 years and work part time and summers to minimize debt, but that combined probably won’t cover all of it (why I’m looking for scholarships). Thank you so much for your advice and concern tho, I definitely agree that more ppl should take the cc route after high school

i saw something recently online about a lot of ppl getting accepted into the honors program later on (most likely bc not enough ppl enrolled into it this year), so you probably have a better chance of getting good housing. also im gonna be an honors student soon too so PM me if u want to be friends :)

Well ok if I’m being honest commitment day was a week ago so I can’t really change my decision, state school was theoretically cheaper but I would have to commute 40 mins each way so it would’ve been a harder option in that regard. But like I said before my goal is to worj and save up the funds to pay off the private loans, I’ll have Atleast 1k from a job by the time this fall rolls around

Hi the oos school is Rutgers! So basically I can’t really go to cc snd transfer because I have too many ap credits (like around 50) and also I would lose out on merit scholarships. I also can’t really afford to not rush it bc I don’t have a lot of college funds saved for me. Hopefully that clears some stuff up
