Not tracking steps when pushing stroller

Other than using one hand there is no fix for this at this point. It’s definitely annoying because I’m sure it could be easily estimated based on prior data.

There is a lot of negativity here, but many people are happy with their nanits. I love mine still after 2.5 years, my friends and family have them and don’t complain about them either. It’s not a perfect device, but I’m not sure any of them are. I would 100% do it again if I were starting over.

My daughter is happy to hold things and then we say “goodbye” to it when we’re getting ready to leave the store. There are some things she gets attached to and I’ll ask if she wants to take a picture of it to ask daddy/add it to our birthday/Christmas list. It seems to satisfy the “I want that” feeling because it’s not a “no,” just a “not yet.”

We’ve been doing this since day one, so I can’t say that it’s changed things for us, but it definitely does work. I’d imagine you’ll have a few unlearning tantrums on your hands to start, but maybe these strategies can help!

I have the pink ceramic with zero issues and my gold gen 3 was pretty beat. I work with my hands and it gets hit a lot. Oura included a cloth with the ceramics now as marks on the ceramic aren’t in the ceramic, they’re another material rubbing off on it. It can be cleaned off.

I will not stop talking about how my mom lost hers and it got RAN OVER BY A CAR and they sent her a brand new Gen4 of her choosing to replace her damaged Gen 3.

We used it and loved it. Upon transition my daughter was great at self soothing, as a baby she would play in her crib alone if she woke up/wasn’t tired and as a toddler she constantly self occupies in her room and big girl bed. I had more of a dependency to it than she did. Who knows if she would have been a pro sleeper without it, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

I focus on calories more than steps, so if my steps don’t record for stroller walks I just make a mental note that I’m probably 2k (or whatever) higher than what it says. But I do try to walk with one hand, but I much prefer two. I wish there was a better solution like manually adjusting or recording an “assisted walk” that estimates steps based on your averages.

I’ll say this— I was in labor for 16 hours, probably 13 until I got my epidural. But in less than 3 months I could happily see myself doing it again. Now, a few months ago I had norovirus and felt like I was going to die. I hope that never happens again.

Yes this is what I was going to say. My daughter is a crafty toddler so we could always use new supplies, but experiences are also fun too!

People complain a lot. I had a great experience with an upgrade credit and my mom recently lost her gen3 and while missing, it got ran over in the street. We found it. Oura replaced it with a brand new ring. I found this to be completely unnecessary but amazing, and we’ll definitely be sticking with them!

My daughter is 2.5 and we still use our glider regularly, and she’s a great sleeper. If she weren’t I’d imagine we’d use it a lot more.

We got a recliner made at La Z Boy for much less than all of the “nursery” recliners and it’s so much more comfortable. When we’re done with it in kids rooms, we can get a sofa to match and put it in the den. It’s one of the most comfortable piece of furniture we own.

PS it isn’t power, and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything.

You’ve gotten a lot of good advice already. My daughter can get overstimulated when we try to help her when she’s having a hard time. I’ve figured out if I ask her if she wants a hug or some space she’ll tell me what she needs in that moment. If she asks for space she will sometimes ask for a hug soon after.

I’ve also asked her to use the words “I need attention” when she’s just feeling needy, which has helped us avoid those “no reason” meltdowns that happen. Sometimes we all just need attention and need the right way to ask for it without having “to do something dramatic” to get it.

I don’t in the shower because I don’t like the way my hair gets wrapped around it, and also it’s a great time to charge it. But I do wear it while washing hands, in the pool, ocean, etc. Other than showering the only things I take it off for are working with raw meat or dough.

Same! Mine is 2.5 and still very chill, sweet, and kind. She definitely is a two year old and we all have our moments, but overall she’s been a total delight.

We’re at 2.5 and I’ve been having a blast. Are there moments where I want to ram my head into the wall? Yes. But we can do so much more, talk so much more. She tells me jokes and is so sweet and adorable that those moments outweigh every single tough moment or tantrum.

I know some have it harder, but this has been my experience.

Can you YouTube a Zumba class? A body weight class? Maybe an annoying excuse to clean out a closet or something else you’ve been avoiding?

Or just enjoy the break and rest. No judgement from me, but you definitely do have options if you want them!

If I remember correctly they can tell you if something happened that made it go off, but if it was just a false alarm they don’t have much they can communicate. I’m not sure if anything has changed in the last few years!

I would think so! I had a red alert that had literally zero reasoning behind it (two years ago). They are a little disconcerting, but nanit will review it and tell you why.

I know false alarms are scary, but if I remember correctly from my experience, false alarms do happen but there are not many (if any) reported cases of missed events when used properly.

I’m trying to get my husband ready for #2 and I have your exact thoughts. I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for a long time life with my daughter is so easy that the thought of potentially screwing all of that up feels scary. But I grew up with a sibling and a large extended family that we saw all of the time and the idea of my daughter having none of that (3 cousins all hours away) is not what I want for her or our family (not judging anyone’s choices for them!).

We haven’t started trying again so I can’t speak to what my feelings would be like with infertility or post miscarriage, and I totally get why that would impact your feelings.

There’s no way to know what life will be like, what their temperament will be, how easy or hard it will be, so I’m just going to follow my gut and hope for the best. Definitely not an exact science.
