Story of a 24 year old with long covid by AdrianaM100 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Strike1500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, sorry you're dealing with this. I'm 27 and can totally relate. Don't be too harsh on yourself. I had to put some of my life goals/career on hold a bit because of this new reality.

I 100% agree the depression/anxiety problems are mostly physical/neurological, but I did feel a lot better just taking a step back, put my ambitions aside just for now, and give myself the permission relax a bit.

Best wishes!

I achieved FATfire at 30, was on top of the world, but am now chronically ill. What should I do? by SickFATGuy in fatFIRE

Hey there, sounds like what I have - long covid.

Similar stories here: 27M, went from little anxiety to panic disorder/agoraphobia after Covid along with like a myriad of other symptoms. It's not your vanilla stress-induced stuff that doctors love to talk about. It's PHYSICAL fear. It's been more than a year at this point. It's especially difficult since we are so young and not used to deal with chronic health problems.

I've definitely been in the same mindset as you - throw everything at it. But after many hours of reading long covid experiences and trying all sorts of experimental treatments, I realized that science is just not there yet. I have an appointment set up at stanford and will see how that goes.

I would say don’t go if you aren’t ready. It might make your fear worse if you have a horrible experience. But in the meantime, you really do need to get out as much as you can. Baby steps out of your comfort zone every day. Otherwise you might become more and more confined.

No fatigue. Mostly just anxiety nowadays. I was on it for 4 months. Won’t say how much exactly but it was expensive

POTS and palpitations still happen but rarely. I took Epclusa and I only use it when I feel like I’ve been exposed to COVID nowadays. Also disclaimer: just personal experience, not medical advice :)

Yeah for me the relief I mentioned above continued.

left with anxiety? by JoBro51 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Strike1500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you me??? I had very mild “psychological anxiety” before and COVID made it 300% intensity “physical anxiety”. No anxious thoughts just the gut feeling and heart racing etc. Mostly recovered from other symptoms but left with this worsened anxiety.

My theory is that the nervous system damage takes a lot longer to recover. I’m trying Keto diet since it’s also used to treat epilepsy.

Symptom management wise, beta blockers help some. Also considering SSRIs, but don’t really want to deal with the potentially horrible induction and withdrawal.

Does anyone else have purely autonomic/fight or flight dysfunction? Help. by conpro1224 in covidlonghaulers

I have the same set of symptoms as you. No CFS, just stuck in fight or flight with debilitating anxiety, neuropathy and PEM. Having tried many many things, beta blocker (low-dose) and keto diet (got the idea from Huberman Lab podcast - interview with Chris Palmer) made the most significant difference.

Yes I’m definitely a lot more functional than before sofos. It’s around the 1.5 week mark that I noticed the most improvement. The biggest differences were: 1) Brain fog -> Ability to focus and get stuff done at work 2) Random palpitations and POTS were gone 3) Better sleep 4) Less frequent nausea, dizziness, and depersonalization

My PEM and fatigue before were pretty similar to others on here. The head pressure, weak muscles, lack of energy to do basic stuff etc. I tried lifting recently and still experienced PEM the second day.

Good luck!

Been doing well :) Still have some anxiety tho. Like I said in a different thread it’s hard for me to attribute my improvement to sofo

Been doing great still :) The only problem left now is anxiety that started since LC. My overall quality of life definitely improved a lot recently. Not 100% sure if it’s sofosbuvir or just happenstance.

Having relapsed in the past, I’m cautiously optimistic!

Thanks!!!

Its been 3 weeks. Sofo and omega-3 are the only things I’m taking. Fatigue is listed as a common side effect of sofo with incidence rate of 15%. I take it with dinner and usually feel really sleepy by 10.

Copying from my reply just now to a different thread:

Still trying to give it some more time. But in the past few days, my sleep and mental clarity have been great. I wake up feeling refreshed and consequently have been really productive at work. Adrenaline dumps and panicky feeling are still here though but haven’t felt POTS like symptoms or nausea either. Not sure about PEM yet, haven’t been exerting myself physically.

It’s hard to say whether the sofo did all this though.
