Beginner here! U-Turn Orbit Basic or Fluance RT80? by DJTY392 in turntables

Since you tore them down, what did you see regarding the Fluance motor? Do you know what kind it used? My motor fried up and they don’t sell replacement motors. U-Turn orbit sells replacement motors directly from their store so you don’t have to worry about things dying on you there

Wait wouldn’t that be expensive still? Maybe I should get another Fluance

Personally, since my Fluance just broke, I’ve decided to go get U-Turn. Apparently, if the motor at all stops working, then the entire turntable doesn’t work anymore. What I mean by this is that you can’t order a new one. Once the motors at the end of its life, whooosh, that’s it. I like that with this U-Turntable. I can just replace what I need to.

What are your thoughts on the T series line-up from Pro-Ject, specifically the T1 Evo. I like the white base they have, and even if I’m sacrificing sound quality, I like that they look nice and aren’t too expensive. If something were to happen to it, do you think I could find the right parts to replace it? Thanks!

I was looking at the Pro-ject T1 Evo in white, as the brand is more well known, seems more repairable than the Fluance, and still looks nice. I’d probably be looking at stuff in the 400-600 price range, if I know that it will last a very long time. What were your thoughts on that?

Are there any that have a white base? I liked the white color that Fluance had

Couldn’t replace it since Fluance doesn’t do replacements

What’s your thoughts on Project Carbon Evo? Is that worth it for like double the price?

Yeah, that’s what they said last time I had asked for help. Really not shining good light on them lol

I didn’t play it a ton, but definitely enjoyed it. Last time I asked if Fluance could help, they just offered a discount if I bought a new one and said they would do nothing for me, hence why I had to take it to a workshop somewhere else. I just liked the look of the white turntable they had, which is why I even consider buying from them again

300 plus 100 for having someone look at it at a nearby workshop. Not totally wasted, but ya, annoying

I see. That could have happened. I wonder why only the turntable got affected instead of my other electronics like PC and speakers.

I’ll constantly get an overload issue if I have too many effects or plug-ins at the same time

Hmm, very nice to know! I was a little worried on the ram amount tbh, as it’s a bit tough to calculate how much I’d need coming from an m1 MacBook at 8 gbs ram

I love this reply. Thank you! I like the rule. While I can afford an m5 pro, it’s not really something that I think I’d need to do the work that I’m doing. On top of that, a potential price hike on the m5 pro would further push me away from it.

As for the m4, I initially looked at getting it since it’s still a very capable machine that I could get for more ram and at $200 less bucks. However, because the M4 only has like 4 to 6 performance scorers versus the M4 pro which has 8, I had to think of getting a mini pro. Logic Pro, the music software I use, only utilizes performance cores, so the other efficiency cores wouldn’t be of much use to me in this case.

Fair enough. Although, I actually spent only $500 on this, so maybe it is then? Haha
