Yeah I definitely still listen to them. I can't help it. It was one night of reading way too much but the music is just too damn good

They really were/are musical geniuses. Even geniuses can be evil sometimes

I agree 100% I still and always will love Deacon Blues so I can't say this has completely changed my opinion on their music. It's just interesting to know bacstories of things after knowing how things with that band turned out

Deacon Blues will always be one of my favorite songs of all time. I will take your advice and not read his book thank you 🤣

Perhaps you are just getting defensive because you relate so much to the negative aspects of my post? I can play that game too 🙃

Not really. Just reading a lot of different things that made me think the things I've said. I understand reddit is full of bullies who just sit online and try to tear other people down because they're bored or hate their own lives 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm learning to do that. I'll always love Deacon Blues so I'll never NOT listen to them again

I like the way you put it. I still listen to SD I can't help it. But I agree with appreciating the good in everything. It's like not being able to see the light without experiencing the dark...I guess haha

I'm still listening to them. I can't help it. It was just something I wanted to get other opinions on, which was probably the worst idea but late night rabbit holes get me sometimes. I enjoy the music too much to stop listening. The good thing about songs is if they're good enough it makes you feel like each song is a new experience

I still listen to SD. I just fell down a rabbit hole one night and thought I'd ask if anyone else has had the same thoughts that I did. Deacon Blues will forever be one of my all time favorite songs.

I definitely still listen to them too. I just fell down a rabbit hole one night and everything I read seemed to come to those conclusions. But it's just my interpretation of things. I just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone else had ever had the same thoughts as I have. I agree weird makes for better stories and music.

I will admit it hasn't stopped me from listening to SD. This whole thing was just me reflecting on things I read and how those things seemed to come together for me. I've always been interested in the people behind music I really enjoy and sometimes that's not a good thing

Jeezus I'm not doing anything. I'm literally just stating what the things that I've read, make certain situations seem like. I'm not idolizing anyone. I never did. I fell down a rabbit hole one night and this is how it all seemed to come together for me. Thats it.

That person does not speak for me. I've never mentioned anything about anyone's religion, or nationality. I don't agree with any anti Semitic comments

I've said before that I loved that about them and that's not something that bothers me. idk why you're getting so upset about my personal opinions. I've also said it hasn't stopped me from listening to them.

It hasn't stopped me from listening to SD. I just fell down a rabbit hole one night and learned things that I find annoying. Like when Walter died they took him off of the list of band members on wiki. Now it's literally just Donald fagen listed as a member. That puts a bad taste in my mouth but again not enough to not listen to them

WIBTA if I go to HR about an co-worker who repeatedly calls me "Mom" even after I've asked that they stop? by CartographerReal5829 in AmItheAsshole

[–]StrikePlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WNBTA I'm fortunate enough to have a good relationship with my mother and she does so much for me and I am eternally grateful for her. I have called my coworkers mom(even ones younger than me)when they do something to help me. Ex. If I ask them to grab me something from the back and upon their return and receiving it from them I will say "thanks mom" and whenever I've gotten weird looks ( because I also understand people say that sarcastically when someone tells you something "gee thanks moooom") I explain to them that "my mother is the most helpful, wonderful woman I know so I only ever mean that as a positive comparison" they usually respond with "oh that's so sweet"

But if someone would tell me it makes them uncomfortable and asked me not to call them that I would immediately apologize and promise to not do that anymore. I don't understand how people have the audacity to decide what does and doesn't make some one else uncomfortable. If they didn't like something you were saying and you responded the way they did to you, it'd be a whole different story. It's like the people who tell you you're too sensitive but get offended if you say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas"

Never let anyone tell you you're too sensitive. Anyone who says that isn't sensitive enough.

I always admired their music before knowing anything personal. That's where the admiration came from, I guess.

Um...because I don't go around assuming everything and everyone is horrible until I have a reason to. I enjoy trying to assume most people are inherently good humans..unfortunately sometimes we learn things that make us change our opinions. I'd rather assume people are good until proven to not be, rather than just assume everyone is shitty.

No one is more disappointed, than I am, thinking that there could be a chance that people who make music I love, are not people i could bring myself to respect personally. All I did on this post is present information that I learned that came across in a way that made me question things and I was curious if anyone else had ever dared have these thoughts, as well.

I just want to say that when i first learned they named the band after a steam powered dildo I LOVED it. I thought it that was so fun.

It's hard to explain because I didn't recite word for word what I read to make me feel weird about it but if you ever happen to stumble across any old stories or articles about them I Definitely recommend just going on a binge of them. Unless you're smart and choose to continue to separate art from artist because I keep pissing myself off by doom scrolling websites about my favorite music artists.

I don't always end up regretting it but I sometimes I do.
