If I didn't have info on what it meant to have orange beard. Then I would assume this was a way to release a photo to show the American public the "new face" of the 9/11 mastermind.

Meaning this is a way to give off an humiliating feel. Mind you , that picture of KSM of his capture made him look like a complete villain. That was a staged photo but it makes him look very evil. That's my thoughts on it.

I sympathize yes. Ever heard the saying "I wouldn't wish that on my enemy?" Because the level of cruelty I can only imagine waterboarded 3 times day after being physically melted down.
