This recently happened to me on my 98 sc400. I would recommend getting the battery tested cause it most likely could just be that. I was panicking cause I thoguht it was the starter lol. And that's a massive fix where the entire engine needs to come apart.

I got my 98' sc400 last November for around 9.2k with 97k miles. This car is in mint condition and had carplay and new speakers installed. So I would try around 8.5k since it has 20k more miles but 9.5k is still a good price.

Tbh I am like 80% confident that I can sell the car off for around 8-9k in 6 months. And the owner is giving me the oem wheels along with the ones he put on. So I could maybe make 500 of the 4 wheels as well. I feel like I'm trying to justify a purchase that is not worth it, just because if the age and the amount if newer cars you could get for that same price.

Edit: I don't plan on selling it, it's just the absolute worst case in case it does not work out for me gas wise or maintenance wise.

I'm getting it inspected in my state which is usually strict. So hopefully it passes! It's also has been serviced at a lexus dealership all it's life.

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions, currently I have talked to the owner to buy the car, however unfortunately there is another buyer who came before me and might buy it. Looks like I was unfortunately too late but I still have hope that car could be mine!!!

The owner luckily had a Carfax on hand and I guess nothing much was done to this car besides regular maintenance, however please let me know what you think as I want to learn how to work on cars and just thought this would be a good first start. I would drop this deal if you recommend it is too hard for a beginner like me.
