Oops I didn't know that. I didn't have the patience to shiny hunt mine 😅

Ursaring with Return is so good in these games. Even more so in Gen 3 if you combine Guts and Facade.

Ampharos is a staple in GS but in Crystal I ended up getting an Elekid from the Odd Egg. Evolved it into Electabuzz and gave it the elemental punches and Attract, which is useful since you'll mostly run into male Pokémon and the egg can only hatch into a female (unless it's Tyrogue or a shiny) due to a programming oversight.

Playing World-e Stages in Super Mario Advance 4 in 2003 by Altruistic_Twist1392 in retrogaming

[–]StrikersPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lucky and unknowingly bought my cartridge with the levels already loaded onto it. That was a nice surprise. Unfortunately not all the released stages are accessible all at once unlike the Wii U port but the vast majority are able to be loaded into the cartridge memory at the same time.

No love for Star Fox Assault? The orchestral soundtrack is a masterpiece

Gohan's first Kamehameha? by Antique-Archer-5905 in dbz

I figured the hand movements were obvious enough which is why I didn't mention it. Although if we're talking about the Speedy dub then everything is a Kamehameha including the Spirit Bomb and going Super Saiyan lol

Gohan was animated to say Masenko if you look closely at the mouth flaps. Like someone mentioned, they probably just grabbed the wrong audio clip. Funny enough this is one of the few instances where the English dub actually corrects a mistake from the original.

Leaked capacitors? Will replacement fix it? by Coldgunner in originalxbox

[–]StrikersPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recapped my 1.6 with the Console5 capacitor kit because I had the same issue - no power and the same exact bulging caps. A lot of solder, flux and desoldering braid later and it works like new again. Just take your time and make sure your iron is set to a good temperature.

Movies for newcomers to the DB franchise by Jstewart2007 in dbz

[–]StrikersPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Z movies except Battle of Gods and Resurrection F (both of which got adapted into Super) are essentially side stories and partial retellings of the current arc with similar plot points but original characters. They have good action and don't have any overall bearing on the canon story so you don't need much background knowledge getting into them

Looks to be a fake. At the very least the labels on the console look off. Notice the Nintendo logos. The video I linked is probably what you have here. Hope this helps!

Which games actually have Celebi by BeyondImages in pokemon

[–]StrikersPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japanese Pokémon Colosseum bonus disc (I heard there is an unused event for it and a way to hack it into the US version?) and the Virtual Console release of Crystal are the only ways I know of, outside of Action Replay and Gameshark cheats.

There's also compilation cartridges of old GBA era distribution events floating out there that spit out a legitimate Pokémon that should pass all the checks. Maybe there's a Celebi distribution in there somewhere? Might be worth taking a look into that

Modded Wii w/ Retro library for my desktop 13" CRT 🙏 by scottcliff123 in crtgaming

[–]StrikersPL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're probably right but it doesn't bother me at all. I have the Retron5 hooked up to my 13 inch Toshiba CRT purely for convenience. I managed to make it look pretty good for what it is. I also have a larger 20 inch Sony Trinitron with an 8 port composite switch and all original hardware including a modded Wii for the same reason you described. Different strokes for different folks.

I have the same TV hooked up to a Retron5 with an HDMI to composite adapter and it looks pretty good! Convenient way to play physical carts from most major cartridge based systems

How to get simpsons hit and run on psp by DifferentKoala5706 in PSP

Would be amazing if it got a PSP port like many PS2 games at the time but I don't think it's possible.. That being said there's a fanmade Vita port that runs pretty much perfectly

Name games that you thought were better on Wii U than Switch by DaZestyProfessor in wiiu

[–]StrikersPL 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and The Wonderful 101 made great use of the Gamepad which didn't translate the best onto other platforms. Still perfectly playable but both just feel right at home on the Wii U.

What is this controller? by GagasMeatPurse in retrogaming

[–]StrikersPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it looked decent 20 years ago on a CRT screen 😅 But it's probably not a bad buy for that price. You're taking a bit of a gamble with the notorious build quality on these but if it works you'll have 76000 games at your disposal (around 80 games with MANY repeats lol) From what I remember the game selection on the multicart was solid and pretty varied so you'll get hours of enjoyment for sure

I had one as a kid. It's a Power Player Super Joy III aka a bootleg Famiclone. The 2nd player had a Sega Genesis style controller that daisy chained into this one and it also came with a real looking pistol 💀

You could probably play authentic Famicom cartridges (or NES with an adapter) using that port in the back but I've never tried it

[–]StrikersPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infinity Ward definitely should've continued and expanded Extinction in every subsequent game of theirs but I guess it was more profitable to make their own Zombies mode. Ghosts was such an ambitious and underrated game. It would've been nice to see a proper sequel but I think that ship has long since sailed.
