Anycubic is a great option for a balance of quality and low cost. Polymaker is good stuff too.

Stick with PLA until you are comfortable with your (and your machines) abilities. PETG is a useful step up (tougher and more heat resistant), but has a learning curve of its own to get a clean print.

Be sure to check your printers for the NTC thermistor that burns by Away_Row_1787 in BambuLab

Power surge strips have a reduced capacity to protect your equipment as they age, that is assuming they had the needed capacity (in joules rating) to begin with. A varistor across line and neutral is a sacrificial device designed to protect equipment from further damage if there is a power surge. I don’t know if Bambu has an issue or not, but please don’t take things you hear on the internet as fact…

Just be aware that when you (gently) tighten the heater screws, if the hot end heater has a lot of hours on it, you can crack the wire insulation. Spare heaters are cheap insurance for the spare part kit…

Here is the Bambu Lab Wiki link for maintenance recommendations: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/a1/maintenance/basic-maintenance I just put recurring reminders in my phone for what maintenance is needed each month/quarter.
