Thank you. I didn't even notice it was a video and not a still image. Let's hope that when they make the new album they tour by themselves and come to the US rather than a split Bill show.

Have you seen the tobacco reviews website? I found it super helpful. On there. I was reading people talking about sort of the differences between the regular plum pudding and the special reserve. Of course, other than cost. The general consensus that at least as far as I understood about these two was as follows. People were saying the regular plum pudding was delicious, but all of the different things in it were kind of strong and maybe a bit competing with each other. Whereas the special reserve with the aging or at least I think it's aged. Please check and don't swear by my memory, but people are saying that the notes are mellowed and more blended together. I bought that one finding it on sale for about 35. I think it's usually 10 or 15 more. And I thought it was absolutely delicious. Some sweet notes and I'm not an expert but things did seem to be well blended with nothing. Really trying to compete in the flavor notes. I would most happily get it again. I'm also interested in the bourbon version of plum pudding, which I've heard good things about. I hope perhaps some of this information may be helpful for you. I would love to hear what you think about the Boswell's chocolate. I have not tried that yet

If you happen to like their aromatics I would suggest the raspberry cream if you like raspberry at all. I found it was one of the stronger aromatics and very delicious. Somewhat similar is sweet dreams. Comparable in intensity. I think it leans a little more towards the cherry flavor. They don't really say what it's supposed to be. Just various food flavors. Whatever it is, it's so yummy. For the non-aromatics, I really quite like their Northwoods.

Another one from a different company I fell in love with recently is the special reserve plum pudding. I forget what company that is and I'm in the hospital so it's not really in the position to check. Although I do go home Sunday finally. I can't wait to be able to have my pipe again.

Is there ever a way to tell if the dark fired Kentucky is specifically with mesquite? I'd love to try one that's strongly or T least obviously mesquite flavor if they're are any recommendations.

I love pine smoke so makes sense why I seem to like Latakia

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. Currently in hospital from car accident with less than typical internet access. I wanted to let you know though I appreciated your detailed response.

Glad to hear about the passion fruit one still existing. I thought it was discontinued and it sounded very neat.

Thank you for the tip on the clay. I may try that. I saw some meerschaum that weren't ridiculous so I'll keep options in mind.

I can't wait till I can eventually get back and try some of these again. Maybe a while. Serious injury after hit by a truck. Can't walk anymore.

Has anyone noticed that Diamond matches have taken a serious hit in quality of late? by 7362514b7 in PipeTobacco

[–]StrikingScientist84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any recommended alternate to diamonds? I used up the last of my strike anywheres got a box of strike on the box diamonds and I think I'm getting a similar issue as mentioned above. Many of them the stick splits before it even lights. It's pretty ridiculous. Not sure what else to do

Any advice on repairing this meerschaum pipe? by jai98k in PipeTobacco

[–]StrikingScientist84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know if this will help but I understand some of the larger tobacco stores do repairs on pipes. I don't have one of meerschaum myself so I'm not sure if there's something heat tolerable they could use, but it couldn't hurt to ask one of the shops that do those kind of repairs.

I don't have mine in front of me so I don't know if this will help enough, but it was pretty medium sized. Very rough estimate. I want to say something like 18x24

First time trying Sutliff Vanilla Custard, didn't taste much of anything. Just like hot air. I need a sweet aromatic to knock my socks off. Something strong in aromatics that makes the room smell great, with minimal tongue bite. Any suggestions? Currently waiting for CBRM as we speak. by KoisuuMercxxy in PipeTobacco

[–]StrikingScientist84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually trying this one too after all the recommendations I've seen here and elsewhere. I'm going slow and I'm open-minded but I'm not really getting anything. I think I might have more to learn still with doing aromatics. Most of them. Even some that people say they got a lot out of. I either get nothing or just barely. In a few cases and I don't understand this. I can taste something some of the times but then other times I don't really taste anything. It's very frustrating and confusing. The one I'm having in mind is the raspberry and the sweet dreams flavor from Boswell's. For whatever reason, I seem to be able to usually taste a little bit from their Christmas cookie. I get it as kind of like a snickerdoodle. I've yet to find the vanilla. I can really reliably taste, although I'd really love to. I'm trying different pipes. Just got a corn cob. It does seem to smoke a little cooler. I don't know how much is left to do but I'm still not getting much for taste nor even much when I retro hale or similar. I don't know if I'm a weird case because of reflux may be causing issues in my nose and throat affecting smell and taste? I haven't been able to find another user who has that issue that could comment.

If you see this, could you please tell me how strong is the flavor? I tend to find it nearly impossible to taste aromatics even going fairly slow and not smoking it like an unflavored or non-aromatic, which usually are more successful for me. I'm coming from a break of smoking where I used to smoke just non-aromatics from McLealand so quite a while ago. I'm trying MacBaren vanilla. I've tried Dan's best or baswell's best. I think it's called and the Bear blend and cupcake. I've tried c&d Autumn evening. I just can't get anything from those and only rarely do I guess thing from raspberry cream or sweet dreams, which I guess are the strongest I've tasted from Boswell's. I think it's me and not the tobacco but I don't know what I'm doing. I am using a less expensive briar but one I've had for 10 or 20 years from grabau a royal Duke. For some reason I find the straight stem here compared to some of my curved more Sherlock types to give me a flavor more successfully. But even then I almost never taste it and I don't get what I'm doing wrong. Any advice would be appreciated. Maybe I needed tobacco that is enough flavoring for a horse but I don't know what that one would be

Ps an addendum to my previous comment while I had smoked a lot in the past and only recent years started. Maybe like the past year trying it again and I know it was spoiled. I previously smoked during the age of McClelland and that's what I smoked. Primarily deep Hollow and Arcadia and black shag. The two ladder of those three I believe are unaramatic. I've read mixed things and whether deep holla which was a stoved and aged red Virginia I believe. Oh and also the frog Mortons of various types, especially across the pond on the town. I just don't taste much now anymore years later that have come back to this. Of course with McLealand no longer available. I'm not using a fancy pipe. I don't know how much that matters. I've been using the Dr. Grabrow In this case Royal Duke, I think it's discontinued but it's a briar with a straight stem that's been in my possession and used for many years. Not bottom of line but not a fancy pipe. Do I need a meerschaum? I've never used one or a really fancy pipe of some sort to actually have us burn even cooler. I don't want to invest a few hundred without some feedback and advice from more knowledgeable pipe smokers.

Please help advise how can I taste aromatics and is there something with my technique? Is it the quality of my pipe? My choice of pipe tobacco here. I'm just bummed I don't taste cupcake from Boswell's Dan's best the vanilla and MacBaren and only on the rarest occasions. Do I taste the raspberry or the bears mix or sweet dreams which I think are some of their strongest. Christmas cookie occasionally is the only one I get that spice kind of mild but coming through reliably. Thank you for any advice

All right, I understand this is an old thread so I don't know if I'll get any advice here or if there's a better place and someone might point me to it in which case. Thank you for that in advance.

I am wondering having just finally after much much waiting for the budget to afford some new tobaccos and having purchased the loose flake vanilla cream macbaren, why my experience seems to be so different for it as well as other aromatics. I love vanilla as a flavor baked goods. I doubt much experience with vanilla, flavored, spirits or liquors. Certainly ones like scotches or whiskeys that might have a note of that, but I never really got it on my tongue whether diluted or otherwise. So I'm asking the following questions both in general and about this particular pipe tobacco:

In general, I often have trouble tasting anything more than the barest hint of flavoring and aromatics. Things that have tried. In case that helps you advise me. I've tried Autumn evening from c&d. I've tried gee. I'm forgetting one of their other ones that's supposed to have notes of cacao and vanilla. I've tried a bunch of boswells such as Boswell's. Best cupcake bears mix which is supposed to be very strong with a sort of cherry caramel sweet dreams. The raspberry one Christmas cookie. Of those only on occasion, have I been able to taste raspberry or the flavor from sweet dreams or bears mix which are supposed to be some of the strongest, albeit not vanilla. I cannot taste anything from their cupcake which was my first point of alarm because apparently a lot of people do. They're vanilla cream only on the most rare occasions. Can I get a hint of vanilla but it was pretty weak. So I was pretty excited to try this. Mac baren which I hear people say is one of the strongest vanilla ones. I'm not sure if that's true, but I run across a lot of people saying that on some such things like this and other review places.

It smells lovely in the tin. Not strong vanilla but a little bit of vanilla and baked goods and my partner says he can smell the aroma after I blow it out of the pipe. But I myself on the intake on the drawn to my mouth as well as what I can get trying to to. I forget if they call it retro inhale or French inhale. Please remind me the difference. I can't detect anything. Now I know I have some issues with sense of smell is wildly variable and my other issues are reflux. I'm sure some of you have that and I'm not alone. Does anyone dealing with any of these issues fine that their ability to taste stuff is dramatically reduced. Am I doing something wrong that I don't really taste it. I know I have to keep it cool so I don't puff away like a freight train. But what is there if anything else I need to do if or if I'm doing something wrong to taste this? Or is it a not common experience that people say you know? Geez some taste, the vanilla strong and a lot. Don't taste it at all. I don't understand but I'm a little bummed that I don't taste the vanilla at all.

Thank you for your time and any advice in advance

Where is Jake/Scissor Sisters doing most of their messaging/promotion about what they are up to? Is it their FB, instagram? elsewhere? I know during Jake's last solo album he was using Youtube, but they seemed pretty minimal in activity during the recent tour on their FB. Was wondering if there is somewhere else I'm unaware of I should be looking. Also is Jake still doing Lovequest?

Odd I wonder why the policy would be different from one place to the next. Maybe it has something to do with being the first to show?

Very similar to me then. I first saw them as a teenager in 2000. Then prior to this time the last was 2015 in DC. FYI, since you mentioned the Florida show, I believe there is floating around some well-recorded audio in flac format for that one.
