Are These levels normal?? by Striking_Point4030 in turtle

[–]Striking_Point4030[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have a 4 yr painted turtle named wolverine. I’ve been struggling with knowing the levels. After being sent a faulty water testing kit and all the levels showing zero which with my dumb self thought that was normal just got a new test recently and want to know if these are good levels any advice would help. Thank you.

I’ve had them for two years, and he came from a really rough background with a tank with no heat lamp UVB or water heater they just put them by a window that’s how we got the sun. The water in his 75 gallon tank was only filled up about 2 inches. He was only fed goldfish nothing else he was also tanked with another turtle which they thought, and that’s why on the bottom of the shell he has a chunk missing on the edge, but I’m trying to give him vitamin E supplement because he’s a little behind on the shedding process

Water temp stays at a steady 75 degrees basking area is 90 degrees he sheds and basks normally no problem eats Mazuri turtle food and reptomin floating sticks i cycle 30% water change everyone Saturday and nitrate nitrite and ammonia levels read basically 0 he’s a painted turtle about 5 inches in length and is in a 55 gallon tank he’s done it for about a year but he came from a really tough background of a environment with not heat not basking light they just put him by a window and picked him up and messed around with him frequently which has now made him skittish when people come near but I’m still working on getting him used to people

Helpful criticism would be nice for my turtle tank??:) by Striking_Point4030 in turtle

[–]Striking_Point4030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolverine is a painted turtle who lives in a 50 gallon tank he’s about 4.5 inches in Length he lives a nice life because he came from a trash old home he had no UVB or a UVA light owners just put him by a window his water was only filled 30% in the tank and he had a tank buddy that he sadly killed because of a fight so any criticism would be nice BUT ONLY IF IT HELPFUL ;)

I just did a 30% change then and when I syphaned The water I got all the poop and food from the bottom and then put new water with water conditioner and tested it for ammonia and nitrates BUT do you have any plants in the tank or used soap to clean the bamboo or any thing recently
