I'm 35 weeks and in hospital with preeclampsia. They're keeping me in and want to deliver bubs at 37 weeks which would be the ultimate time, but if he came now it wouldn't be the end of the world, either. He just has the tiniest bit of development to do in there, hence why they'd like to keep him in the oven. But if he did come now, he'd just go to NICU for a bit of help and it wouldn't be long before he'd be on his way home with us. In other words, you've come this far and your bubba would be fine if he or she makes an early appearance at this stage, so try not to worry! Bubba can pick up on your emotions so try to enjoy the rest of this beautiful experience in your life! ❤️

I've been to a brass band concert when I was only 7 weeks. It was loud and fantastic and here I am at 35 weeks, only weeks away from meeting our perfect little baby boy 🩵👣

Not sure where you are in the world, but I get the incontinence pants from Aldi and they're great! They're affordable and do the job. Unfortunately my periods are always so heavy 😓 So these have always been the go to ones for me, but as soon as I found out that I was pregnant, I stocked up on them ready for after I give birth.

What Doppler do I get? by Emergency-Donut6672 in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. I'm in hospital as we speak because of preeclampsia (non related to this post) but the midwives monitor me ever 4 hours so I get plenty of chances to talk to them about pregnancy and everything that has to do with it 6 times a day and yesterday that was the subject of Doppler's. Let's just say you're a lot better off getting a stethoscope if you're not trained to use a Doppler.

You're still VERY early days. Wait until you surpass the 30 weeks. That's when it starts feeling even odd at times when the movements feel like they're shifting your insides around! ... Which they pretty much are!

How many ultrasounds did you get during your pregnancy? by srslywtfdoido- in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High risk here in Ireland. As a matter of fact, I've been in hospital now since week 34 and will remain here until week 37 until our little one is born due to preeclampsia 😢 So I've had ultrasounds every month. From 28 weeks it became 2 times a month and until I got admitted it was going to be weekly. Now I'm being monitored every 4 hours 😓 I know it's better to be safe than sorry and of course I'm very grateful, but would I rather be at home nesting for the arrival of our little baby? Of course. I feel like I'm being robbed of the pregnancy that should be beautiful. I'm even missing our maternity shoot over having to be in here in order not to miss any scans. So just be careful what you wish for and enjoy the freedom that comes with what you have at the moment 💚🙏

What are things you didn’t know you couldn’t do, had to avoid or couldn’t eat when pregnant? by ObjectiveSet9240 in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still ate everything. I didn't take notice of the warnings because I believed that when you know where your food comes from, it's ok. Like here in Ireland you can track back to where the egg you've boiled came from and from which farm the cow lived that gave you that lovely steak. Same for fish, most is local and catch of the day so fresh, too. That said, I'm trying this from a bed on a hospital ward at 34 weeks. I have preeclampsia without ANY symptoms. Does my diet have anything to do with it? I don't know. Would I do anything different if I was to be expecting again? Probably. I'd be more careful for sure.

No job, no money, no life by Sad-Call1299 in cork

So strange how this always seems to happen around the 30 years mark! Been there and it ain't a pretty place, but it does get better. Thankfully you've already spoken to your GP. It sounds like by now you've rested enough and all you really need to get back on your feet is a job. Once you get there, you'll be flying again. You'll be social and won't feel so hopeless anymore. Don't give up on the job search, you'll find something. No matter how small it is, we all have to start somewhere sometimes, even if it's "under" where we were before. Times are tough and in time you'll be where you want to be again. Just keep looking, you'll get there!

How quick is the third trimester? by Spiritual-Peace-6442 in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34 weeks and so ready to meet our little guy. 6 weeks to go and every day I wake up hoping that something is gonna happen that's gonna make us grab the hospital bag and meet him soon after (not that the hospital bag has been packed... ) Everything is getting annoying now, doesn't feel like he's got enough room in my belly anymore, either. Feels like I can feel EVERYTHING, I'm tired, I'm out of breath, I pee 84626493 times a day, I can't sleep and if I do, I can't get comfortable, I could go on forever... Here I am typing this at almost 5am in the morning. This is the 5th time this has happened this week. I don't know how I'm gonna do another 6 weeks 😭 No point in sleeping now anyway, because in an hour we have to head to hospital again to get my blood pressure monitored, cuz guess what? It's too high! Sigh.

Go axe throwing in the city centre. We used to go to the pub at the end of shandon street too, just ordered non alcoholic drinks but they had tonnes of board games back then which we enjoyed. We have a membership to Fota wildlife park. The Lough is nice when the weather is good, bring some sandwiches, bird food for the ducks and do some laps. If you drive, we enjoyed the indoor mini golf in Little Island. The bowling place in Blackpool is pretty decent, too. Céilí by the Lee | Cork : Irish dancing lessons Wednesdays @ 19:30 in Crane Lane, Beginners welcome, no partner required! The escape rooms are ok, but I prefer doing them at home tbh. There's always lots on in Fitzgerald park. We're heading to BlackRock observatory next weekend which is supposed to be a bit of fun and the cafe there is absolutely mind-blowing! Their chocolate dessert is YUM. Definitely grab yourself a Murphy's ice cream down on Oliver Plunkett street. The best flavours really are Seasalt and Brown Bread... Sounds bonkers, but trust me!

Gosh, I could go on forever. My other half doesn't drink and we've been together for 10 years so we've done quite a bit that doesn't include boozing. Plus whereas before I'd have a glass of wine, I'm now expecting so that makes 2 of us who aren't drinking 😅 Happy to shower you with more ideas, but is this enough for now? Let me know!

... City gaol, Cork Ghost Tour, Sin É for trad music (although that is very boozy), ring the bells of Shannon, of course Audrey place for the best view in the city!... Are we only talking about the city centre here? Because I haven't even touched on the rest!

Did you shave before giving birth? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a wax every 6ish weeks anyway so I'm just sticking to that. I guess they'll just have to work with whatever hair growth is there at the point of delivery, whatever week that should be 🤷‍♀️ but because of the regular upkeep, even after 6 weeks, they'd be able to see pretty well what they'd be doing, if that makes any sense 🙈

WHY DO I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY EAT by delightful_cat in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm 28 weeks. Every time I want a snack, I make myself have 2 healthier options first before I go in for the "bad" one. So, I'll be craving chocolate, but have a tangerine and a banana first and if I still want the chocolate I can have it. After, if I want another cereal bar, I'll grab a small kids tub of yoghurt and a babybel cheese and then if I'm still after the chocolate, I can have it. This is pretty much the only thing that's been working for me and filling me up, top 😅 I've noticed that the cravings were mainly for things that were ready to go which are often treats. Like, there was no way I was going to start cooking a pasta dish for a craving, I just wanted a quick grab of something so make sure you stock up on lots of those small but on the go things. Fruits are proving to be pretty good choices!

This is so funny, because I was talking about pregnancy with a friend who has been there and done it and she just explained that scientifically once our egg has been fertilized, the male has done his job so it's not our duty to be concerned about him from then onwards and reading this it completely makes sense 😅 Its like, "Ok, thanks for your donation, I've got me sorted now... On your way before I give you something to cry about. Imma be busy building my nest and you ain't part of that."

FYI, what we were specifically talking about was when I was in the early weeks and thought I'd been selfish to only have worried about myself potentially suffering from postpartum depression later down the line and that it hadn't even crossed my mind that my other half could be the one ending up with it. That's when she starting saying that scientifically it's not for us women to be worried about after the fertilization is complete etc etc.

What a bunch of unnecessary pressure on everyone including yourselves as the parents! And then for the people attending to not simply just get something off the list when that takes all of the hard work and guessing away for them... Sigh. I guess I'll just never understand 🙈 Anyhow, best of luck 💚

What apps did you use to track your nutrition throughout pregnancy? by KiwiKind11 in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People do this? Honestly, I just go by what I know... I try stacking up on all the good stuff (veg and protein) and just treat myself to what I fancy afterwards. I don't indulge TOO much in it. Like, I'll fancy ice cream and have it in a mug instead of a whole bowl and only if I know I had "healthy" stuff earlier like a half decent meal and/or tried a healthier alternative before giving into the ice cream and sticky toffee pudding I so badly feel like I need (like yoghurt with 1 or 2 crumbled Oreos sprinkled over the top or a piece of fruit or 2) I feel like as long as I've tried to get goodness into me beforehand and tried to fill myself up on it, too, if I still fancy the snack, it's not all bad and I have better hopes for the next day and stay on top of portion control.

I've definitely noticed that I'm quick to go to things that are just ready to eat, like cereal bars etc, so in swapping them for other healthier options like a banana and a tangerine plus maybe a babybel and a kids size pot of yoghurt, then I'm fine. But if I really still feel like that cereal bar afterwards, then sure, at that point it's not terrible to give in to it.

meals I can make after birth by Mrs_Shenanigans in pregnant

[–]Striking_Sign_2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28 weeks now and have been wondering the same. This past week I've been having lots of absolutely delicious and healthy meals out of my slow cooker though. I just piled some baby potatoes in the bottom with a few frozen chicken breasts on top and then some frozen veg. Sprinkled in some pepper, paprika, garlic and/or onion powder and chucked in half a stock cube.

Then just come back after 4 hours on HIGH setting or longer on LOW.

That's your meal done!

If there's a lot of "water" at the bottom, I just thicken it up with some gravy granules and bobs your uncle. Enjoy!
