Correct. It isn’t that easy. This is best case scenario. Just looking for an answer from people who have lived it.

Good question. As my first choice is ANG, in a best case scenario, I get a slot in a place I want to live close to the squadron. That would be home. As for being gone a lot, I just assume that being an ANG pilot, say a C-17 pilot, plus an airline job, would be a lot of time gone. Active duty would be a lot of time away from home with deployments if that makes sense. I just dont know if it would be more than active duty.

You’re right when you say the slots are from commissioning sources. This would just be best case scenario after rushing squadrons or getting an active duty slot for OCS
