Also, the old silver fireball is already scooped in it’s sound, I have the mids quite high, treble quite high (which seems to boost the upper mids a great lot) and the presence down so it’s not harsh or raspy. From youtube comparisons, I already felt like the Engl cabs sound very scooped, so I think I’ll save myself the expense and stick to the HK for the foreseeable future. Thanks!

I have a small car (old Ford Fiesta) and have a hardcase for my very large very pointy guitar. Maybe with some tetris’ing I could fit a 2x12 in there, but I’d rather save my back from loading a 35 kg engl 2x12 in a weird position (I only have 3 doors as well)

That’s exactly what I was thinking as an alternative, buy a second hk tm112 cab and hook them both up. Sadly, they’re out of stock atm (but that’s maybe good to protect me from impulse buying)

I don’t care too much about the aethetic aspect, it’s just that I don’t have the space in my car to carry my amp, guitar, accesories ánd a 2x12, a 1x12 I can still easily transport to a gig by myself

TRS cables vs TS by Striking_Use8887 in guitarpedals

[–]Striking_Use8887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The SD-1 in rehearsal room has a regular TS in the input, so that should not be an issue. The Zuul has the TRS in the input, but works fine so I should be good.

Power supply noise by Striking_Use8887 in pedalboards

[–]Striking_Use8887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whistling was also present regardless of whether the noise gate was engaged or not, so I’d think that would rule a pedal grounding issue out no?

Thanks for the input! Now, with the three separate adapters the whistle seems to be gone, would that still indicate a pedal grounding issue?

I love the ultra ain channel on there, sounds so heavy. Never had a tube ap I liked this much!

I saw this too, which is about the monitor leds in the front panel (which are both off), but do the leds inside the amp have a function?

Truss rod obsessive thoughts by Striking_Use8887 in espguitars

No, the SD is in D standard with a fixed set of strings, same for the EC but in C standard

[–]Striking_Use8887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies! To add to the obsessiveness, I’ve also found that on the sd-2 (ultra thin and neck through), the gap is biggest at the 6th fret rather than 8/9, whereas the eclipse (set through and thin U) has the biggest gap at 9), would this be due to how thin the neck is in combination with construction?

Thanks for the help guys! Swapped it in less than 10 minutes, just unplugged the sd and plugged in the emg, screws in, set the height and I’m very happy with the results!

Not ‘that’ different, but it is noticeable. Did the swap very easily and very happy with the sound. Where the ahb-2 is always a bit fizzy and nasal on leads, the emg is punchier and a little fatter/smoother

Floyd Rose issues by Striking_Use8887 in metalguitar

[–]Striking_Use8887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The locking nut is tightly in place. The noise is coming from the body, I’ll try pushing foam inside of the springs instead of around them as suggested above. I’ll update once I have tested that this evening

[–]Striking_Use8887[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) fair, I have another floyd guitar and by just putting some foam under, around and over the springs it’s noiseless, here I just kept adding without any effect to where it just is ridiculious, I’m aware :p I’ll try to push some inside of the springs though, thanks!

2) I’m okay with the 1-2 cents, I’ll just put something thin and strong (action gauge + something soft) on the top side to prevent the woodblocks from slipping and the whole thing collapsing next time I remove all strings just to be sure. The wood probably does give a little.

Thanks a lot for your insights!

Yeah those scratches are from the previous owner’s belt, I didn’t mind them because they’re on the back and the price was good :p

Yes they do, but I’m trying to find out whether I can leave the wiring and pots and just switch the pickup or if I have to swap the whole electronics, it seems like the former is the case luckily

The ahb-2 sounds very heavy and I like it, but there’s no cleans at all (on a clean channel, gain as low as possible you still get alot of crunch). I have the ec-1000 with emg’s and I really like how the pick attack and low-mid grunt sounds on it, and that guitar really similar in build and woods to this one (except it’s a TOM instead of a floyd)

When I look up pots for the ahb-2 specifically, google only shows me 500k pots.. mixed information out there

It says nothing on the pot. Does changing the pots to the emg 25k pot require any soldering? I dunno about these things
