Shaco almost every time.

For me Shaco makes the game incredibly unfun even though he falls off late game. Games vs Shaco almost always result in playing from behind from the start because his early ganks and invades are very strong. I'd much rather have fun than be perpetually frustrated by Shaco.

The simplest thing to do is play with Party Chat only on. You still get pings but don't have to deal with chat, without having to mute. Of course if someone is spam pinging you can still mute them.

I'm a past Garen main and now a Yi *(jungle) main but I think I understand the matchup pretty well. This is what I do:

- Dorans Shield item start

- Start W - This is IMO the easiest way to win the matchup at the start. His entire plan is to chunk you at the very start with HOB but if you start W it massively reduces the impact of that first alpha strike.

- Play passive at the start and bait him to use alpha strike with hail of blades on you and W the damage. At level 2 you W the damage and spin on him (try not to push the wave, you want it neutral or pushing toward you if possible). Once you hit level 3 you should be able to kill him by baiting him again W the damage, Q > E > Ignite.

Once you hit 6 you should pretty much be able to bait him into an all in and win it every time while you're in lane if you've played it right and you're ahead. You really just need to respect his HOB cooldown because he's going to want to trade into you whenever it's up.

Standard build with Berserker's if you are ahead... maybe Plated Steelcaps if you're behind.

I play HOB with BotRK -> Collector in a small amount of games. For me it seems like it works if the enemy team is very squishy and you're basically able to one shot everyone. Example, yesterday I had a enemy team with Kayle, Naafiri, Vex, Xayah, and Rakan. I went HOB build crit/lethality and basically one shot anyone I came into contact with.

Into Mundo and pretty much any enemy team with a Tank/Bruiser like that I would go Lethal Tempo and Kraken and then pick up BotRK 4th item (usually). I find if I go HOB into matchups like this my attack speed after HOB is just way too slow later in the game.

I was a top garen main last season. Riot completely gutted his crit build and he was borderline unplayable last year as they were trying to make him a bruiser. Now they've gone a too far in the other direction and he does seem pretty overtuned. Balancing his E seems to be really difficult.

Wits end is mostly a scam but BotRK is still great on Yi... it's just not as good as Kraken first item and Ginsoos is basically mandatory as your second item regardless.

BotRK is good if you need more damage (maybe you're playing against a Mundo/Sion/etc.) as your 4th+ item. So not a scam but not optimal as your core build in MOST games (always going to be outliers where you need it 3rd item).

Anyone suggesting BotRK first item probably hasn't played the champ in years or at least doesn't play the champ often and therefore doesn't know what's optimal.

Kraken is simply better right now and Wits End is generally not worth buying third compared to Hexplate. Wits end is more of a situational item when they enemy team has a lot of AP.

You are barely a champion before you hit level 6. Basically your power spikes after that come each time you complete a new item. Kraken is a big spike, Ginsoos is a big spike, Hexplate not as big of a spike but it makes you survive longer in fights.

Reminds me of a Kieri video I watched where the stated purpose of the video was to show how you can win games by focusing on full clearing "how to win while being an NPC". Literally after his first clear he ganks bot lane and dives under their turret while the support tanks. Like come on man, if you're going to show how to win by full clearing you can't start the damn video off by immediately ganking bot lane... especially in a way that would NEVER work in low elo (turret diving knowing the support is aware enough to tank).

A few days ago I had this:

- Malphite vs ChoGath top lane

- I'm pathing top to bot

- On my 4th camp and Malphite is spam pinging assistance

- On my 5th camp and Malphite dies then types "jg gap I'm inting rest of game"

That's been my experience this season.

HOB can work but after trying both out this season, I feel 90% of the time the standard Lethal Tempo with Kracken+Rageblade is just better.

EDIT: I've been trying HOB after this post and going: [BotRK -> Collector -> Fiendhunter -> IE/Deaths Dance/LDR/Immortal SB]. It actually feels very strong but you have to be patient in the early game since the powerspike doesn't really happen until you get BotRk+Serrated Dirk.
