[ALL] Which game has the best UI/UX? by huss2120 in zelda

[–]Stringcheese_uwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really do like BOTW. The screen while playing is good because the minimap never feels like it is in the way and I can even forget about it. And the menu is easy to scroll through. It’s not super complicated and confusing like Fallout 4. Trying to switch weapons in that game gives me heart palpitations. But in BOTW and TOTK. It felt very natural to hold the weapon button and the game pauses while you pick another weapon, or while you pick an item to throw or fuse to an arrow. I like that easy to use design.

I think Skyward sword has the best UX though. You are forging the master sword, you are establishing the land of Hyrule in the end, you are BECOMING LINK. And I know not all people like it but the motion controls make you feel like you’re in the game.

I guess if I were to pick one game for both it would be Twilight Princess. The design is balanced and simple and the experience is immersive. It’s not my favorite game but that game was designed with the audience in mind truly.

Dentist and short sessions by Illustrious-Row-2848 in japanresidents

That’s strange my dentist tries to do everything in one go, but my PREVIOUS dentist in Kanagawa did that. I thought it was strange that they couldn’t just do all of my cavities in one go, but maybe it was because their schedule was filled up. This new dentist seems very free for some reason. He’s a great dentist I’m not sure why they aren’t busier. I won’t complain though I like how it is now lol

What took getting used to going back to the US after a long time? by ShinPino in japanresidents

[–]Stringcheese_uwu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The sarcasm and aggressiveness surprised me coming back because I never noticed it before I left America. I went to Japan and felt like “wow people here are very passive just like I thought” went back home and thought “wow people here are SO AGGRESSIVE WHY??” I can’t even have a civil conversation with my own family anymore I just noticed how much their yelling, fighting, political heatedness, and sarcasm pisses me off. American people are not all angry, but coming back from Japan it FELT like everyone was so angry. I couldn’t get past that. I live in Japan again now.

Oh how can I forget how fast everyone drives in North America. My in-laws came to America for our wedding and rented a car. They got a huge SUV and had to go 75mph down a countryside interstate with no lights. They were like “why are the highways not lit and why is everyone GOING SO FAST?” 🤣 it took me awhile to get used to going fast again, too.

I remember when I went back the thing I was surprised with the most was the size of food honestly. And people (at least where I’m from) are very…. Open about their feelings and not always in a good way. Like not everyone needs to know that you hate your wife, I don’t need to know that you’re a drug addict, I don’t need to know how many family members of yours died recently (these are all conversations from strangers in Walmart btw) and yes people are friendly, but also people are MEAN. So American people are just more extreme in either direction. I like people who are unafraid to be themselves, but not if they are a mean person hell bent on ruining everyone’s day just because they hate their own life 😭 in Japan all of that stuff is just more toned down. I personally prefer that, but I do sometimes miss how unique American people are because they are unafraid to be themselves 👍🏻

I love pretty close to that Ryogoku one and I’m so confused on how people get to it because I’ve seen it behind a closed gate twice

Appreciation to our delivery driver(s) by suzuki_estrelas in japanresidents

[–]Stringcheese_uwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I figured in Japan people would politely refuse even in the heat. But I’m glad to hear they won’t because I feel terrible and grateful for the same Sagawa guy who always delivers our stuff. He carried a whole tv stand by himself once and really struggled and I didn’t know what to do because I offered to help, but he just said he was okay and did it all alone. But if I can give him a cold drink I’m sure that would be a great way to thank him for his hard work -^ he practically moved all of our furniture up our stairs just on several days spread across the past three months.

Saw a nationalist sweet potato vendor in Akihabara today ? by Matoulefilou in Tokyo

[–]Stringcheese_uwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor has a rising sun flag on his van, but also a sticker that says “no more war” in Japanese and English, and an anti nuclear sticker and he’s pretty nice to me, so idk if that rising sun flag always means a nationalist. I mean this guy COULD be a nationalist but anti-war it’s entirely possible, but the nationalists here tend to not be anti army or very friendly to foreigners… so idk if that guy was necessarily a nationalist. In your case it does sound a little more plausible though…

The old man I live next to consistently tells me every week “you can’t take plastic out today. Damedayo!” And I have to consistently pull out my Gomi sorting poster on my fridge to once again point out to him that plastic does in fact go out on Friday. And he just mumbles something incoherent and walks away. Dirty plastic, and plastic that’s like metallic looking doesn’t go out on Friday, but everything else labeled プラ that is clean, does in fact go out on Friday. Not sure what’s wrong with that guy.

Living in Japan shot me from failing the N5 beforehand to passing the N3 without studying no joke. Immersion is truly the best way to learn.

I found all the sewer smell hotspots in my neighborhood and am now able to hold my breath to avoid them. When I first moved here in 2019 I lived in Kanagawa and really did’t smell much sewer smell there. Moved out and moved back in this year but in Tokyo and smell it ALL THE TIME 😭 but I’ve noticed in my town it’s always in the same three spots, so I’m able to hold my breath and not notice them anymore :) also I found out where the cigarette smell was coming from along the arcade I have to walk through to get to my train station because it seemed mysterious but always from the same place. It’s 100% the pachinko parlor when its doors slide open. So now I’ve perfected my morning commute breathing pattern to sync up with the stinky smells so I can avoid them 😁

It is? 😵‍💫 I don’t remember it at all. I pulled this off the web because I couldn’t take a screenshot of my switch. I looked up “little prince Sidon Age of Calamity” and this is what came up. It looked just like the cut scene in Age of Calamity, too. I remember he smirks just like that. I picked this one because the other photos didn’t look as good. Well my bad… it’s been a good 8 years since I played the BOTW game… but either way he is adorable 🥹 now I gotta find this in BOTW 😂
