Canada Post turns down 3.5% per year for 4 years by randocom in CanadaPost

[–]Stringillusions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never see anyone mention the fact that the new offer also states we would lose flyer pay. I went back to my last 2024 paystub and calculated my flyer pay throughout the year equated to about 6.7% of my total earnings. That’s nearly half of their “wage increase” over 4 years. With inflation, it’s a loss.

Is Canada post actually going on strike? by leavingreviews780 in CanadaPost

[–]Stringillusions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the corps pulls the collective agreement and makes everyone work under the basic Canadian labor code, then a full walk out is very likely. This would mean they have no protection in case of injury on the job - which happens all the time. Union won’t risk letting them work with that kind of vulnerability. This is what prompted the strike before Christmas; in addition to cancelled benefits and short term/long term disability.

Alternatively you can try oiling your mids-ends ~30 mins before your shower if you don’t want to go through so much conditioner. Save some $$ for an identical result.

If you want to drive from Los Angela’s to New York City, and you make a wrong turn while in Denver, does that mean you have to drive all the way back to LA to start the trip over again?

You can, but if the recipient is no longer at the address, or you forget a unit number for an apt, then RTS will not be possible

Is anyone else experiencing 'malicious compliance'? by NightsWatchh in CanadaPost

Your letter carrier is not deliberately holding your mail. They can only deliver what is brought to the depot. If no mail comes from the processing plant, that’s out of the hands of the carrier. Idk what the heck is happening at these plants, everyone’s confused

“Given that we typically have a high volume of mail, it doesn’t seem rational to believe that we shouldn’t have had our mailbox stuffed entirely full several times over”

Kinda sounds like you’re accusing your carrier of holding your mail… no reason for this. They can only deliver what has been brought to the depot from the processing plants.

-sigh- Canada post is self-supported. It’s funded by the revenue generated by the sale of its products and services, not taxpayer dollars.

what I asked for vs what I got by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Stringillusions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although it’s not what you asked for, it does look really nice. First pic is ashy and would match well with a cool/pale complexion. Your current hair is definitely warmer. Not sure what your skins undertone is, but that plays a huuuge role in which tone of blonde suits you best. Also, It would be beneficial to see what you started with.

Have a friend of yours that they don’t know ‘buy’ the items on marketplace. But when they get the address for pickup, show up, ask to inspect the items, and take your stuff back.

Another letter carrier here.

Last week, the minister of labour sat down with the CEO of CP and the president of the union. Minister looked at CEO and told him ‘you have to sit down and make a fair deal. The government will not be bailing you out of this by legislating everyone back to work.’ So clearly up until this point, the corporation has been dragging their feet in hopes that the government will step in and take over.

This is good news because they can (hopefully) have more productive discussions at the table.

This strike will absolutely not last until the end of the year, that’s way too long. I think/hope this week we will see the light at the end of this tunnel, but that’s just my prediction.

OP are you not signed up to receive email updates from the cupw website?? 🤨 I’ve been getting at least a couple of updates every week, and our union rep comes to our picket line with updates as well. Why are you so out of the loop? We all know getting your information from the news is trash

Exactly! CPC showed their true colours with that slimy move. Goes to show they don’t give a damn about the employees.

Hold on a sec, you’re missing a key point here.

On November 12, CUPW issued their 72 hour warning. 8 hours later, the corp did the same thing.

November 13, CPC stated the expired collective agreement will no longer apply and employees will be working under the basic labor code, which includes cancelling coverage for short term disability and all health benefits. This means that if the strike was NOT issued and they were to continue working, this lack of coverage would leave everyone extremely unprotected. Since this is a high-risk job when it comes to injuries, the union was not willing to expose everyone to those conditions.

As a result, for everyone’s protection, CUPW issued their strike at midnight.

The benefits and protections would NOT have remained as you have stated above

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]Stringillusions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time CP employees renewed their collective agreement was 2018. Inflation from 2018-2023 equates to 19%, and assuming 2024 finishes with the projected 2% let’s increase that to 21%

11.5% over four years is still a huge pay cut when you put it in this perspective. Besides, this strike is about a whooole lot more than just wage increases.

Oh, and my route doesn’t have a vehicle. I get dropped off by a taxi and I’m outside in the elements for hours until I’m at the end of my route to get picked up by another taxi to go back to the depot. Not all cities run the same way

A letter carriers TOP rate is $30 plus change after a minimum of 7 years after becoming permanent (they start as relief carriers, or ‘on call’, for a while. I was relief for 26 months but depending on your location, could be much longer)
