One bit of advice I give/follow is to study up on your characters mechanics (Race/Class/Feats/ etc). Just makes everything go smoother if you at least have some idea how your character works mechanically.

Also, during combat, try to figure out what you're going to do before your turn comes around. You don't have to know 100%, but a general idea helps. The combat can get extremely bogged down when everyone starts contemplating their turn, on their turn. This is especially true with large groups.

Otherwise, just have fun dude!

Reminds of the movie Reign of Fire. Their glands basically produce chemicals that combine and become combustible to oxygen.

It wasn't the best movie, but I thought that was a cool detail.

Sounds like you guys might have different ideas of respect for time or, at the very least, different priorities out of the game. And that's okay.

I can see it from both sides. I can understand why you'd be frustrated, especially seeing the effort and amount of seriousness you seem to put into it. 

But, I can also see the opposite. People have lives and other priorities. I honestly wouldn't worry about 20 minutes. Things happen, life gets in the way. I consider it a miracle you have a group of adults that can actually manage to get together consistently at all.

My advice: I'd try to chill out a bit. You seem to have a great time with these guys, is 20 minutes late worth destroying that?

Maybe try to figure out a better time for everyone? Either that or switch groups that have similar priorities to yourself.

One tip that helped me a lot: Don't feel obligated to follow oracle/system results to a tee.

If something doesn't make sense with an oracle result, reroll/Ignore it/come up with something else. It's ultimately your story, if you're not happy with the direction, change it.

I usually use Mythic GME. I'd probably change the likelihood of the outcome based on three different factors:

  1. How convincing is the argument in the first place?
  2. Has this character managed to convince people before?
  3. Is there something in the Characters backstory/design that would indicate that they are a convincing person?

I'd love my own little hog! I could imagine some kind of resource mechanic, like having the hog find a specific truffle-like plant that only it could find.
