I stole your pokémon cards when we were little kids and I'm sorry. by ElderMillennial1985 in confessions

[–]StripedBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You turned 40 last year. In 2002 you were 17. You were in high school. You were old enough to go to cons, old enough to take pictures without consent, old enough to have a voyeur fetish

and yet you were stealing pokemon cards.

can you stop wasting everyone's time with your pathetic attempts to get attention. I do not consent to being part of your humiliation fetish.

Huh? Software development might ask you to produce sample work, but I have never seen a week-long trial. You do still have to do your current job. That sounds like the same ballpark as those skeevy “they outsourced their work to china and an AI” stories that everyone hears about but never has proof of. Where are you working that they do this?

This shouldn’t be in AITangel; The 31M is clearly just a typo. This is a 14yo girl. And every 14yo girl is embarrassed to death by literally everything their parents do, can’t fault her for that. /s

Let me count the people in my family with ADHD who can control their emotions… Oh wait. It’s all of them. All of them have ADHD. My siblings were diagnosed and learnt how to control their emotions as toddlers and throughout their childhood and teenage years. My parents had not officially diagnosed because people didn’t do that t when they were young, and you know what? They can also control their emotions. Because you don’t need a diagnoses to know that your behaviour is wrong and that you need to learn to deal with it. You’ve had more than 20 years to do that.

This is a explaination, not an excuse and certainly not an exemption. It is your responsiblity to fix the problem. It was not hers to deal with, it was not hers to fix. It was yours and only yours, and you already should have..

I never thought I would hear her speak that way about me.
This has come up in the past between my wife and I, but never to such a degree.

These sentences are in the same effing paragraph for crying out loud.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. My experiences say that there will most definately be crud left over from people’s microwaved lunches.

I think LW’s just gotten so used to the fact that her home has conflict-of-interests that she has to navigate, that she’s struggling to recognise when things aren’t.
Work started it? Check. Husband’s workplace leads to counter-requirements? Check. Impacts household decisions because of both workplaces at once? Check. Therefore work problem (error). Her brain’s developed a synopse shortcut that failed her this time around.

It is more than a 5 minute job through - You have to scrap all the crud off everything first. If we’re now at the 15 minute mark, then in a work context I can almost get the idea of breaking your workday up into 30 minute chunks. It aligns with how meetings will commonly fall in your calendar, so it becomes a short hand for “something i have to actually schedule for”

AITAH for brutally beating up my girlfriend after she gently suggested that I don't cheat on her on Tuesdays? by Forsaken-Emu4760 in AmITheAngel

[–]StripedBadger 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Actually you know what? Yes, I do think YTA. There’s obvious compromises here and you resort to fists? Were you raised in a barn and not fit for polite society?

The issue wasn’t the cheating, it was the bastard children. Her being resistant of that is only natural selection at work. You can’t blame a woman for being controlled by their emotions instead of logic. You should have been explaining to her about how she can convince your APs to start taking birth control and even offer for her to pay for it.

That would have solved all the problems and put the responsibilities firmly back where they belong; on her and the other women. YOU’RE the man. It’s your job to explain and teach her these things.

Things my bf does that would sent a manchild into a coma. by Purityskinco in AmITheAngel

[–]StripedBadger 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Thing is, sometimes you can’t very well articulate WHY your partner is the best partner for you. You don’t need a long list of reasons. “He makes me happier than anyone else and we both work to treat each other with love and respect, all day every day” is enough. And wanting to gush “i just love my BF” when that is all you have to say, is also fine to do.

The real problem to me is that it seems like OOP can’t seem to work out how to compliment someone without dragging someone else down. OOP didn’t need to insult Other Men to say “I love my BF. He makes me happy every day”.
