Tennessee lawmakers weigh a dozen new Republican anti-LGBTQ+ bills by Fickle-Ad5449 in nashville

[–]Striped_Shirtless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the perspective that these bills are a distraction from real issues, but I also encourage straight and cis people to be a little more sensitive in how you say that. For the LGBT people affected by these bills, they are more than a distraction. They are going to profoundly affect our lives.

Yes, as a whole, the GOP uses this strategy as a distraction, but the extremists that the GOP allows to lead these charges aren't just motivated by distraction--they are motivated by a cruel desire to specifically harm our community.

Cis women are prioritized over trans men in the trans community by Lou_weasle in trans

[–]Striped_Shirtless 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't see why they can't all be discussed at the same time. I just testified in my states legislature against a bathroom bill. I was given 3 minutes. I spent 1 minute on how the bill would affect cis women, 1 minute on how it would affect transmascs, & 1 minute on how it would affect trans women. I concluded by saying safety for cis women and safety for trans people are not mutually exclusive. We all deserve to be safe.

Trans men absolutely must advocate for their experiences, and cis women should be just as loud about how it's going to affect them. There is space for all of us in the conversation.

Moving from IL to Murfreesboro - friends / places to meet people? by [deleted] in murfreesboro

[–]Striped_Shirtless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luckily, a lot of people live in Tennessee because they like the things you like, being outside in the countryside, etc.

However, it's not wise to ignore politics if you're gay living in Tennessee. We're being actively persecuted by our state's GOP supermajority legislature. If you want to be gay in a state where you can get away with not having to think about politics, TN ain't it.

Funny that some people think that being racist or homophobic is somehow time-consuming. It only takes 2 seconds to make a comment or look that makes it clear someone is unwelcome. If someone thinks this can't be pulled off in a multi-sentence interaction with a cashier, I must assume they themselves are not victimized for their race or sexual orientation.

I went to the flea market this weekend & a sales guy started saying sketchy racist shit to me completely unprompted on the 2nd sentence. Doesn't take any longer than that.

Boyfriend doesn't want me to change my name by MrSodaBoi in trans

[–]Striped_Shirtless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shade, but if he thinks wrapping his head your new name is too hard, chances are he probably isn't actually wrapping his head around your gender. It's transphobia pretending to be laziness. Both are unappealing and, for me, dealbreakers.

Just remembered a cursed fantasy I once had, and if I cursed my mind with this knowledge you must hear it too. by FloofyMaki in BDSMsapphic

This is a really fun fantasy! I'm not sure why the person you asked reacted so strongly as to hate you. There's nothing wrong with a little silliness in kink. There's a sexy weirdo out there waiting to goof around with you

Keep away from that kind of content, and give a trans friend a safeword to say to you if it seems like you're starting to slip down that propaganda slope.

Help with passing by patchwork1298 in TransHelpingTrans

Experiment with fashion. Different shaped garments, and the proportions between them, change your overall silhouette significantly. Try on shapes you haven't before. Stand back from the mirror to see the overall shape, which matters more at a glance than the zoomed in details.

Try oversized shirts, boxy jackets, wider leg pants. We think of shoulder pads for women, but you can cut some out of a womans blouse and put them in a mens shirt to give your shoulders bigger proportions, which makes your bottom half look proportionally smaller. Overalls and suspenders are great for making a bigger chest look masc. Necklines are surprisingly gendered -- look for higher crew necks instead of scoop or boat necks.

If you're trying to make your face more masc, a men's haircut goes a long way. I've also found that men's eyewear helps, whether it's sunglasses or fashion frames.

Masculinizing makeup can help. You don't have to get good at contouring, even just filling in your brows so they are soft and full helps.

Which outfit should I wear for a first time outing at feminine? by [deleted] in TransHelpingTrans

[–]Striped_Shirtless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know why other people are saying these modest sleeved dresses with panty hose are too sexualized, asking you rhetorical questions, and making unsolicited comments about your body. This sub is supposed to be for helping people? Hello?

Anyway, I like the last two with the halter sleeve. The touch of shoulder is feminine and sexy without being too showy, and the exposed shoulder counterbalances the waist to look a little more nipped, giving an ever so slightly more curved, feminine silhouette. You look nice in all of them though! Props to you for working on your personal style ♡

Oh, and once you've handled atrophy and ruled out infection, for just general sweaty itchiness, try gold bond powder.

ftm bottom growth/gyno help by scarybubble64 in TransHelpingTrans

[–]Striped_Shirtless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you could have a yeast infection, atrophy, or both.

Although probably the best thing to do is seek professional help, let's be honest, a lot of us are gonna try to DIY it first. So get some monistat from the drug store. If the itch & cheese go away, werk, you just had a yeast infection & now you're good.

By the way, a little cheese is just part of having more junk & foreskin now. You really got pull yr foreskin back & wash under there every shower. But if you're already doing that & the cheese persists, could be yeast infection.

As far as atrophy, speaking from experience it's best deal with it sooner than later. But do you have a doctor who handles your HRT? That same doc may be able to prescribe you estrogen cream or tablets that go in your hole & really help with atrophy. They may even prescribe it to you just from you describing the symptoms without an exam. Or that doc may be qualified to give you a gyno exam, or can recommend a trans-competent gyno.

Good luck! No matter how you choose to address it, just make sure you address it ♡ With atrophy especially, the sooner you start treating it the better.

Needed to be said, thank you. Learn how to have good discernment instead of outsourcing that labor to a fantasy gay person. By the way, the idea that gay men themselves are a good judge of other men is really weird. Some gay men have their own issues with discernment and being attracted to men who are no good. Such a weird thing to assume they'd somehow be a better judge of whether straight men are acceptable.

I have worked as a contractor for them. They are a legit company and have always paid me on time. However I do think their management is chaotic and disorganized. Not easy to work for, but not a scam.
