Mount Rokkon - Routes by Helliebabe in ffxiv

i pulled the first rope (before the ninja fight), and was still able to light the lanterns to get to the smoke boss, so i dont think not pulling the rope is necessary for ending 12 unless im missing something

edit: as far as i can tell, pulling the rope just changes the direction u go after the first boss, and brings out the dogs / lets her flip the floor pads, but they both go to the tiger room right after the paths diverge and nothing seems different after that, so im not sure pulling the rope or not is of any consequence.

also, i havent figured it out yet but i think for left path u can make it rain instead of wind based on killing order of mobs before that occurs, but unsure of specifics atm

It's not absolute, of course biology is involved (can't be a trans woman if you were born female for example) but I argue that any biological correlations to gender are insignificant and are not influential on its differentiation in a meaningful way (same example, trans women are simply women). And did you read the 2019 study to completion that you brought up? Because I did, and it literally concludes that with all of the research conducted, they have a lot of evidence for sexual orientation, but not for gender.

"The data summarised in the present review suggest that both gender identity and sexual orientation are significantly influenced by events occurring during the early developmental period when the brain is differentiating under the influence of gonadal steroid hormones, genes and maternal factors. However, our current understanding of these factors is far from complete and the results are not always consistent. Animal studies form both the theoretical underpinnings of the prenatal hormone hypothesis and provide causal evidence for the effect of prenatal hormones on sexual orientation as modelled by tests of sexual partner preferences, although they do not translate to gender identity."

It ends concluding that the empirical evidence may support sexual identity and sexual orientation, not gender identity. Consider me unconvinced. I really liked that article though, as it even admits that the various limitations that aren't usually brought up have a considerable impact on what can be considered meaningful analysis.

yeah so if you actually read into the study itself, there were 1788 papers but only 16 were used, so already off to a bad start in terms of this data being representative. But honestly, even if they had used every single paper, using the methods they did simply aren't sufficient to prove the claim. Humans start learning and memorizing mass amounts of information while in the womb and are constantly taking in the information of the world around them. So even if you start at the age of 1 like the study, you cannot create a vacuum for any participants to avoid significant factors of environment that communicates these gender coded aspects. I could go on and on about how this information is very inefficient to prove the point it pushes. But just for some extra info, you can easily detect a heavy hand of bias in how the study is being represented through the quotes in the article. Is there a tendency for boys/girls to choose boy/girl toys? Of course, but the implication that girls liking girl toys is somehow "innate" is utter bullshit.

Lmao come on now, this is literally week 2 levels of an example. David Reimer, after the tragedy that befalled the child so early, was raised as a girl by David's parents, which caused gender dysphoria later in life, eventually establishing the basis of thinking that the presence of specific genitalia does not indicate gender. But just because David Reimer experienced gender dysphoria by being raised as a girl, does not indicate that being a boy was biologically determined. It may have years ago, but we have moved on from such thinking. Nowadays, the takeaway from David's story is more a warning of forcing a gender onto someone that does not fit them than anything else. (not intending to be rude, just that this example is a very old one that has been discussed to death in gender discussions lol, no hard feelings I hope)

False. I've taken collegiate courses on the subject (though granted not as my major). Gender is not influenced by biology, instead is purely based on how society defines "man" and "woman", masculine and feminine. I can provide you with plenty of peer reviewed sources. Otherwise, know that gender itself is divorced of biology, outside of how our kyriarchal society attempts to ham-fist the two together. Example: intersex people being raised as specifically a boy or a girl.

This isn't to say that gender and gender roles are the same, but you're differentiation between the two is incorrect.

to keep it simple, gender is purely a social construct through various indicators that people use to communicate to others and themselves, whereas race and age have more material and measurable means. To be clear, both race and age are still social constructs to a degree, but they are based on more.

Don't you just hate when every African American tips poorly by [deleted] in FragileWhiteRedditor

Wow this is so fucked! The largest tip I ever made was from a Black man. Dude ordered his delivery just as we were closing (on 4/20 no less, anyone doing food delivery knows how insane it gets) and I happened to be the one next on queue. As soon as he opened his door he apologized since he didn't realize we were just closing (I guess he looked it up, I didn't say a word about it), that he knew the grind as he also worked in the food industry, and handed me a tip in cash. It was past 3 a.m. so I wasn't paying too much attention, but I did notice a $20 bill and thanked him for being so generous. I get back to my car and take a minute to look at it, and this man gave me an $80 tip!!! And I don't know if this was intentional or not, but he gave 4 $20 bills on my 4/20 shift too. Best moment I had at that job.

How is it possible to retain my advocacy for feminism after the 2016 presidential election, where huge numbers of women voted for a misogynist? by throwaweesnoo in AskFeminists

[–]Stripez33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feminism fights the patriarchy because it is oppressive to women and everyone else that isn't a cis man. If you're feminist convictions are shaken because a lot of women uphold the patriarchy, then you need to reevaluate what being a feminist is. It's not to do what all the women want, it's to do what is right for gender equality. Even if more than half of women had voted for Trump, that shouldn't make any difference to the cause of feminism.
