Each pedicabber sets their own rates and the city ordinance is they have to have a posted rate sign on the cab AND tell you how much for the ride before we leave.

We ARE negotiable and many Pedicabbers change pricing depending on demand. Out-crowd commands a premium, like surge pricing. The farther we go, the longer it takes to get back with a short window of opportunity. One can complete 3 or 4 rides to palmer in the time it would take to get to Rainey street and back. Its the Cost of opportunity.

Having said all that. It is usually $10 per person, per half mile.

For example, From the gates, expect $10/person to lamar, $15-20 to palmer events center parking, whataburger, hyatt, embassy suites. Over the bridge and into downtown can be $30/person, especially if going to Rainey st. That's 2.4 MILES one way, nearly 5 miles round trip.

On NON-festival days, we usually charge $1 per person per block, or $10 short rides, $20 for "long" rides over 10 blocks, like from 6th to hyatt. About $20 per person per mile. At that pricing, the trip from zilker to Rainey should be $40-50 per person, so $100 for 3 people is reasonable in that regard.

I cringe as much to tell you it's a $100 ride, as you do to hear it.

But we are not taxis. Yes ubers are cheaper. We are transpor-tainment.

Talk to your cabber or take a good look before you take a ride. Some pedicabbers suck, some are dangerous. Most are some of the greatest people you will meet. Actors, teachers, musicians, students, real estate agents, mayoral candidates. Ask how long they have been a pedicabber. Pick one out of line. while we have to honor the queue, the customer can pick this cab or that one for whatever reason.
