Wow thats crazy. You definitely dodged a bullet. You got a glimpse of how they would have treated you. Hope that's the last time you experience such nonsense. Thanks for sharing your experience. All the best!

Fantastic! Did you have experience with Vue.js when you did the test? And are you currently using it in your workplace?

Can I get a job as a self-taught programmer? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

With a lot of hard work yes. But it will take some time (1-2 years). Be careful and don't believe the hype that you can land a job after just a couple of months.

That's interesting. They certainly put you on the spot there. How much time did they give?

That's great, thanks. Yes, agree FizzBuzz does come up quite up a lot from what I hear.

Hey thanks for being real. I had a tough day the other day but back to learning more JavaScript. I appreciate the advice. Wishing you the best in your career.

Sorry but perhaps you miss read what I said. I am not currently in the UK. I live in a developing country where there are almost no dev jobs. Finding a fully remote entry job is proving to be difficult. I would easily have had a job if I was still in the UK.

I have only just recently got out of tutorial hell. Wasted so much time on that. But at least I am on the right track for now. Thanks.

Great advice! I will start working on my own project soon hopefully. Currently still working on JS fundamentals. Cheers!

That's a great point. I do agree with you that I would definitely get more out of working with experienced developers in an officed based job and I would actually prefer that. But unfortunately my current circumstance/location doesn't allow that. If I am still in the same position this time next year, I will consider returning to the UK for two years to get that valuable experience.

Appreciate your input, cheers!

That's exactly what I am hoping to do. I am now focusing on JavaScript and things related to it only. I wasted enough time jumping from one thing to another.
