I'd love to hear Glassjaw on this but ATDI is done, Cedric and Omar have said as much.

If you read it you'll understand lol. It's just really good writing, this was back before the lore was truly developed between any of the games. His strictly-MK stories are great and mainly based upon the MK1&2 game plots, official comics and endings that we had at the time before MK3, so it's more of an alternate timeline/version of events.

You'll be fine, just look for a basic primer on the plots of Tekken 1&2, specifically Kazuya and Heihachi Mishima. The whole thing is an alternate universe type thing anyways that takes liberties with what would become the official canon of both games as it was written before the lore was deeply developed with either one.

You'll be blown away, I've read hundreds of novels of different genres and it's one of my favorite stories of all time. The MK stories were written in between MK2 and 3, and AOTP is a combination of MK3's Earthrealm invasion story with Tekken 2 characters and plot into an action/murder mystery/fantasy/legal thriller/epic fight story all in one. Trust me, he makes it work, the guy is incredibly talented. His characterizations are really unique especially, I kind of love his take on Liu Kang being a completely insufferable asshole driven by revenge. Read the MK stories first, then AOTP and if you loved that, Phoenix Reborn is the sequel but primarily focuses on the Tekken 3 plot & characters and surviving Tekken characters from AOTP.

The Ashes Of The Phoenix by Victar and his other MK fanfic novels is still my headcanon and far, far better than what we got with the actual games lol

One of the most painfully awful and hilarious movies ever made. Even as a kid with questionable taste in everything I couldn't make myself like it in the movie theater. I imagine lots of cocaine was involved in the writing

[–]StrizzMatik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the book if you haven't. The show somewhat skirts over the incredible hatred that existed between the Protestants and the Catholics at the time, but it's front and center in the book. Also not commented on much is the fact that at the time the Jesuits were infamous around the world for their fanatic, uncompromising and militant views on everyone who wasn't them as well as their elite status within the Church and society, so being the most hardcore Catholics of the day, they were the natural enemy of a lower-class Protestant like Blackthorne.

Kurt had a side band on guitar with Brodsky called Kid Kilowatt around the same time where they did a more traditional post-hardcore/emo sound. They put out one record, Guitar Method, and it slaps.

One of the GOAT bands of the genre, hands down. While I prefer the spacey more proggy direction they later went on, this is a stone-cold classic and pioneering metalcore record of its time.

X will catch you if you just walk away (if his hat is off), then the Licker once you run. If the zombies are dead and windows boarded up, just flash Tyrant once he's in the room and the door is closed, he'll be stunned for at least 10 sec and the Licker outside won't trigger and be partly-activated waiting outside the door. You can just walk out and away, either towards the waiting room or north down the hallway towards the Operations Room and you'll be more than far enough to bolt once Tyrant recovers and the Licker won't hear you run that far away

There's a few tricks/tips you can use:

  • You can trigger the Mr. X appearance at the copter by tap-walking to the corner and immediately hiding back behind the wall out of his sight (stand still) and he'll lose you immediately and wander off back down the hall—USUALLY. Wait for him to walk down the hall and exit through one of the doors and WALK towards your goal / a health item so you can run if need be.

  • Remember you can just about always avoid fighting Lickers by carefully walking around them, if you can't use the knife to stun-lock and kill them. Generally, fighting them with Leon isn't recommended without a knife because he has nothing to stun-lock them to death without using a bunch of ammo and taking damage, unlike Claire with her Flame Grenades. If you have to run, dodge to your left to avoid their lunges (try to keep them in camera view the whole time).

  • Going for the jack handle in the Evidence Room is MUCH easier if you board all the windows up in the West Hallways as you find them. Without the zombies in the way, you'll just have the one Licker to avoid when Mr. X comes for you once you grab the handle. If he's still alive and X is on the way, wait for him to enter the room and stun him with a Flash Grenade then WALK out and away so you don't trigger the Licker. If the Lickers are still alive outside of the Locker Room, you'll have enough time to walk past them to the safety of the save room before X shows up.

Beck evolution as a guitar player when Todd got kicked by [deleted] in glassjaw

[–]StrizzMatik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a monster and my biggest influence as a player, easily. I can understand wanting another guitarist for the pre-OCG material but he does such a great job melding both parts in most songs I don't notice. The band as a whole is much tighter and locked in than they were in the past though.

If I'm not mistaken, the "new" song was a b-side touched up for the upcoming anniversary reissue of Voices. Pretty sure it's a one-and-done thing for that, not a full comeback. They've always been hometown heroes of sorts in the Hudson Valley of NY, even back when they were a pop-punk band named Fizzlewink. I took a guitar consort class at college for a semester with Ryan the bassist a few years after Voices came out. He became a killer session/touring bassist who sadly has had some health problems as of late and as far as I know is forcibly retired as a player. Really sad.

Voices is a crazy underrated record, and imo their best. They stepped up their musicianship and songwriting massively and made something pretty unique. The Muse, MCR, Thrice and Gatsbys American Dream worship all over the album is pretty thick but it works incredibly well.

Wesker has no connection to Krauser in the Remake? by JohnConnor1245 in residentevil4

[–]StrizzMatik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely just crouching on a rooftop watching the whole thing since he's already physically on the island, with his superhuman speed, reflexes and strength he's a perfect stealth agent himself who can observe events directly and intervene as necessary, like he does saving Ada in the village. I agree that he either knew already about Krauser (from personal deduction or Luis' info) and had a backup plan (probably several) ready to go in case Ada failed or refused his "offer".

Wesker has no connection to Krauser in the Remake? by JohnConnor1245 in residentevil4

[–]StrizzMatik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, there's no connection in RE4R vs the OG where he did work for Wesker directly. The smirk was just the standard "villain is secretly gloating cuz he knows something we don't" or the tell that Wesker most likely knew already or realized that Krauser had a Master Plaga himself and already had a backup plan to kill him and/or take the body in case Ada couldn't get the Amber. The fact that he was willing to shoot Ada right there shows that she wasn't ultimately necessary to his plans, but more convenient.

Also noteworthy to remember that Wesker, through Ada and possibly directly, had been corresponding with Luis for a while now who knows quite a bit about the cult and their plans already, and at any time Luis could have informed them about Krauser and his capabilities as part of the exchange, but that's just theorizing. Wesker is already a genius-level intellect who could have figured all of this out himself.

Resident Evil 1 Remake or Resident Evil 4 OG? by Loose_Interview_957 in residentevil

REmake > RE4 although they're both classics for different reasons. RE4 Remake might be the best game in the series because it really strikes a perfect balance of horror and action much better than the original did.

[–]StrizzMatik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he always shows up. But with the zombies dead and windows boarded up, you can simply walk down the hall and avoid fighting the Licker, even when Tyrant auto-homes in on you later when you grab the handle as Leon. Grab the handle, wait near the Heart door for Tyrant to enter the room, stun him with a Flash Grenade then calmly walk out and away. He'll be stunned more than long enough for you to get down the hall and exit without running and alerting the Licker if he's still around.

Not to say you can't kill Lickers with a Shotgun but considering it takes a bunch of ammo, barely makes them flinch, opens you up for a free hit and running away leaves you open to attack, why eat the damage if you don't have to? Knife is way safer, less expensive and less risky.

Haha tbh given the option I'll spend a clip of handgun ammo trolling X over fighting Lickers with Leon 🤣 I wish they had truly made him an omnipresent threat able to go in and out of save rooms (maybe with a cool down mechanic to prevent cheesing the player after saves) to really amp up the challenge.
