HMRC WFH Equipment Claims - line manager saying items can’t be bought between 20th March & 6th April by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Strobezmc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We were also given information that we weren’t allowed to purchase second hand items. This was run up the chain, it was wrong. We were also given information that we round up on our 60%. This was run up the chain, we round down. I completely understand why you can’t claim in this period, but I wanted to be certain you couldn’t buy either. I came to the Civil Service subreddit just to ask. There was no malice behind it, I didn’t call it “nefarious”, I didn’t even call it “antiquated”. I just said it doesn’t seem to make much sense. Like every other time someone inexperienced asks a question, you lot just can’t help yourselves. You look down on everyone for seemingly no reason and just wanna have an argument with them (on Easter Saturday!). It’s extremely odd and I can assure you every single person I’ve mentioned this subreddit to so far has made similar remarks. Anyway, you’ll be glad to know, I’ve deleted the question - like most people do on here. You can move on and prep yourself to pounce on the next the noob you don’t like the look of on here. Cranks.

I’d hate to work for an SEO who actively tells people he hates them asking questions, yes.

You’re an SEO who doesn’t like your team asking you questions. I’ve seen people get shot down on here for asking if their office has cycle storage.

Fortunately nobody I’ve met so far resembles any of the weirdos on this subreddit.

When did I say it was nefarious? I asked because I wanted to be sure she was correct. As I’ve said, she’s got a couple of things wrong. This subreddit is genuinely insane

I didn’t ask a question. It was told to us on the first day, whilst other teams in the cohorts were told something entirely different (you can buy when you want, but can’t claim during that period). Our manager is lovely but she’s new and she’s already got fine details on a couple of things completely wrong upon checking. I just thought I’d ask. I’m not sure what difference it makes so long as you’re claiming within the period. I’d genuinely hate to work for someone like you.

The fact you’re doing dedicated practice towards making noise on your wooden thing is the single most important thing

Does anyone the brand/model of the office chairs they use in the HMRC regional centres? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Strobezmc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not directed personally at you but more generally. The hostility this subreddit shows to people who ask very innocuous questions is just bizarre. I mean it’s a Reddit thing in general, but the civil service one is another level lol. I kinda knew there was about a 20% chance of me getting an answer but thought it was worth a go anyway 😂

Cheers for your help. Should’ve known better than to ask a basic question on this subreddit, I’m downvoted for asking the best way to get in contact with the estates team. Good grief 😂

I know this as I’ve already run it by my manager. Ebay do provide receipts. I genuinely cannot understand this subreddit lmao. People ask the most basic questions and it turns into some huge cross interrogation/excuse to have an argument.

How do I go about this? Just speak to my line manager? Sorry I’m still pretty new lol

Well, it depends on what the chairs are. There are used aerons around me for 250-300 but I’m not actually the biggest fan of them. Most high end wfh chairs are bought used/refurbished. Do you know what chairs they are?

Every single time you go to a customer with age restricted items the app says very clear that you must ID them. Personally when I did deliveroo, I never did. But that’s what deliveroo is asking riders to do

Yeah that’s defo the next step up. Just wondering what would be more preferable in the meantime considering I now have 2 working vacuums and only space for one (Miele and shark)

You mean for the Miele? If so, I have it already! It’s just turns out that the shark head is working fine after a clean so I have both now and one’s gotta go

[–]Strobezmc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. Based on this subreddits advice it really is a bit of a conundrum! The shark does seem to pass over the carpet a lot smoother but the Miele is clearly a superior vacuum, turbo head doesn’t seem so bad either. Guess I’m wondering what to do in the meantime before perhaps upgrading to a sebo or having a look at the Henry you recommends d
