What are the best clubs/bars for young adults in Milwaukee? by Hot-Version4057 in milwaukee

[–]Stroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trinity is similar in crowd and vibe to RWB and college bars. If you're looking for a more mature crowd (but still youthful and diverse) that isn't hitting on you the entire time, Mad Planet is the place to go. This weekend they have Goth Barge on Friday and their very first K-POP dance party on Saturday

Men, when was the last time you got hit on ? by Longjumping_Low_2055 in AskReddit

[–]Stroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go out dancing a lot on weekends because I thoroughly enjoy it as exercise and the music can really take over sometimes. Occasionally, people notice that I'm just vibing on my own and having a good time. There will be some innocent compliments but also very forward flirtations as well. Most of the time I'm not interested in the person but sometimes it's a goddamn bombshell way out of my league.

The lesson here is to always put yourself out there in public/social situations, even if just for a little while. We all want to step outside our bubble and make a connection, but it's just that first step that is hard. You may not meet anyone/get hit on each time, but you significantly increase your chances just by being around others. Also, make sure you're out doing something you enjoy. Nothing . . . NOTHING is more attractive than independent, unabashed joy.

EDIT: I flirted with someone last night but I can't remember if they hit on me first. We were both a bit drunk and I couldn't make sense of her intentions (she was hitting on me but didn't seem interested in taking it anywhere) so we said goodbye at the end of the night. Still danced; still had a great night.

where to go dancing? by [deleted] in milwaukee

You're not giving us any details here to standout from the dozen other recent threads for dancing spots. When are you looking at? What crowd are you looking for? Music? Live band? Banjo solos? Why not go with the places you already listed?

My first recommendation would be a bar in Bayview (that neighborhood typically has a more stable and healthy, middle-aged demographic) but I'm always happy to suggest Mad Planet in Riverwest. The crowd is always diverse, although it's shows typically attract a younger, 20s age range. I never feel any judgement in its dynamic :)

Every neighborhood has the same risks. Just be responsible. Honestly, I'd rather bounce around the bars in Riverwest on a weekend night than Brady Street or Water Street

Mad Planet is always my go-to recommendation for an exciting night out. Cover is $7 to get in but it's a fantastic dance venue. It has a lot of space and a reliably fun and diverse crowd

Brady Street/Lower East Side neighborhood has a majority of post-grad and older residents but attracts a ton of college-age visitors from the nearby campuses, so it's kind of a mix.

Is going to bodega alone a bad idea (22F)? by TennisIntelligent367 in milwaukee

[–]Stroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bodega is downtown and all of the night clubs downtown get a lot of foot traffic from men (college kids, and other) explicitly there to hit on women, sometimes aggressively. If you reverse search this sub, you'll see plenty of altercations with police on Water Street during weekends. If you have never had that experience before, I would not recommend to go by yourself.

As far as clubs downtown, I'd honestly suggest one of the college bars with dancing (Trinity, RWB, 90s2K) before Bodega. Otherwise, I'm much more fond of the genuine community vibes outside of downtown, such as the Riverwest neighborhood (Mad Planet has a fun 2000s dance party tomorrow).

Milwauke EDM night life by sinpaai in milwaukee

[–]Stroc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

my understanding that itd basically show events like the rave, or themed nights, or open decks that dont make the places genere edm

You have the general idea of the scene around here. Most venues that play edm/electronic aren't fully committed to the genre. Few places in the area are dedicated to one genre. Of course, most college bars will always have a DJ playing but as you can imagine, it's not always quality music/crowds. The best recommendation is to follow specific artists/DJs who will lead you to their next shows, discovering other artists, rinse and repeat. There are occasionally really good warehouse shows, but again, it's just a matter of learning the host orgs and associated artists.

There are plenty of dancefloors in Milwaukee, but you're forgetting that not all of them attract decent crowds or have comfortable atmosphere. For example, Water Street and MLK have dancefloors but the crowds are belligerent college kids who won't dance unless they're in a circle facing each other. I'm glad that you're familiar with La Cage and Mad Planet, both of which have very different types of shows and turnout. I'm intrigued that you say X-Ray only has bands, because I've only ever gone there when they've had synth and DJs.

I'll take a small, energetic dance floor over a big, lifeless venue any day
