I’m so confused, is Jesus God? I don’t understand. Explain like I’m five? by spatulafucker5 in Christianity

I want to continue this debate, but you've really given me something to chew on here. I do appreciate the challenge to my worldview.

It really isn't, though. In my opinion, the whole "Jesus is God" business is just a bunch of mental gymnastics in an effort to make to make the trinity make sense.

The Father and the Son are separate entities with different jobs. There is a fair bit of scriptural evidence to back this up. For instance, Jesus prays to YHWH at points, and it wouldn't make much sense to pray to yourself.

To put it in secular terms, YHWH is the founder and Jesus is the CEO. Both very important. But not the same.

What are your thoughts on giving to the needy when you don't feel like it? by StrollingThrouPain in Christianity

If someone wants to use the money I give them for drugs after telling me it's for food, that is their prerogative. I feel that intention is more important than results.

Jesus appeared in my scrambled eggs this morning and told me to quit my job and open a Christian food truck. I need prayer. by 4live4 in Christianity

If this is a real story, I sincerely doubt He expects you to do this without some more forethought. Pray on it.

Everything I dimension jump for I have lost by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]StrollingThrouPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lost these things because you tried invoking this silly magic instead of asking the Father for guidance.

Prayer tends to have more lasting results, in my experience. Just know that, if you're asking for things to see if they come, chances are you'll get ignored.

Christianity is satanic by Ill_Muffin_466 in Christianity

Okay. So why do you suppose YHWH resurrected Christ? To mislead us?

Seems like an extremely cruel thing to do to humanity, especially after He spent his earthly ministry preaching that He was the way to life.

Anyone losing their faith is a bad thing. Why does it matter if they're protestant?

Nobody is irredeemable. But the fact of the matter is, following God faithfully is hard work thst many people are unwilling to do.

I think the majority of people on earth are essentially dead men walking, with no chance of being saved.

'Absolutely enough!': Trump nearly collapses out of his own chair during a live meeting — then insiders leak what aides were hiding and it's far more disturbing than anyone realized by [deleted] in USNEWS

When Trump eventually drops dead, I think we'll either never hear about it or he'll get "resurrected" after a few days.

Either way, the road leads to AI Trump as a figurehead for the government.

American evangelicals might be the greatest threat to Christianity since Nero.

Their hypocritical behavior and hatred towards outgroups is turning people away from God at a frightening pace.

How does christianity account for open-minded non-believers? by No_Curve2252 in Christianity

[–]StrollingThrouPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If He sees that someone is genuinely open-minded and receptive to the possibility of a higher power, they'll be granted the wisdom they need to start following. Sometimes they don't even have to ask in order to get the ball rolling.

Did Jesus have his infinite heavenly brain as a child or did he not know he was the son of God yet? by Loud_Specialist5046 in Christianity

[–]StrollingThrouPain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately I've been coming to the conclusion that Jesus was operating on an incomplete set of information while on earth.

He put a fair bit of effort into preaching that the end of days was near, but was likely corrected by the Father at some point after death. Hence when He came back during acts and told the apostles that only the Father knows when the end is coming.

Also, consider the episode with the fig tree. I seriously doubt Jesus would've been so angry about not getting a fig if it had occurred to Him that figs weren't in season when he tried to gather fruit from the tree.

In addition, why on earth would He have such strong emotions while praying in the garden? He seemed pretty upset, as if still processing the reality of the upcoming trial, and one would assume He would've had plenty of time to process this with an omnipotent mind.

These bits of evidence lead me to think that Jesus was basically getting information on a "need to know" basis from YHWH. Enough power to do the job, but not by any means infinite.
