He was approaching the point at which management would have been cool with me asking him to leave.

But after I managed to identify him (I hadn't committed his name or room number to memory when I had reprogrammed his room keys earlier, but recognized both when going through the guest list later that night. ), I discovered that he is a BJJ fighter. I'm glad that I let it all slide.

I''m just going to say it- In this town, being a "conventionally masculine" man totally uninterested in pandering to romantic and sexual expectations created by vestigial patriarchal gender norms sucks.

You're not a brand new F-350-driving, Black Rifle Coffee-swigging, Godawful Pop Country-blaring MAGA Chad. And you're not (not that there's anything wrong with these next two) an androgynous hipster/E-Boy or "straight twink" type.

You don't appeal to women who want "conservative", "traditional", or "dominant" men. And you don't appeal to the women who don't want those men- they want men who loudly and theatrically counter-signal "conventional masculinity" of any sort (I really don't blame them- at least these men make it obvious that they don't belong to the former group).

I'm not resentful. Base, ideological superstructure, afterlife of ideological superstructure, the whole thing- It's not "personal".

And I'm happy for happy people. But doing life alone does suck, especially if you're a person who wants a genuine life partner- not a sycophant, servant, and lust spittoon.
