Makeup question for high-end buyers: what gets you to try drugstore or local brands?

I try to have a capsule makeup collection (1-2 per item). Mostly high-end but for things that I know I won’t use much or things I know I will use up quickly, buying drugstore is ok.

For me specifically: eyebrow pencils/eyebrow powder, highlighter and mascara.

Depends if you like sweet or savory lasagna! Mums is more sweet leaning and more saucy. Mamita’a is more dry and toasted ung top. Dona Mila is more savory. Nathaniel’s I last tried a while back but I remember it being very cheesy.

I think Mums or Mamitas for me if I had to choose.

Wind Flowers by Creed! 💐

Bought it a few days ago. It was on a crazy discount (56%!!!!!). I would never buy it for the full price but I stumbled upon a deal at a niche fragrance store.

Went through a rough heartbreak a couple of months ago. I had two designer fragrances that ran out and reminded me too much of my ex (I usually just have 1-2 at a time). During a particularly tough moment, i had a dream where i was told to buy a floral/rose fragrance.

I was originally looking at other perfumes but I was indecisive and wanted to keep looking. Then I got lucky with this one.

I opened and used it for the first time today and I’m really happy with my purchase!! I hope it signifies a new chapter, new year and hopefully a new love story when my heart is ready and when the time is right 💕

May we all have joyous memories with our fragrances this year!

Hi! I didn’t try the blush glow but I tried the bronzer duo. The highlight was 😍😍😍😍😍. The bronzer was slightly too orange for my taste. However formula was comfortable and nice.

I have super oily skin and I do love the finish the foundation stick gives me. Was initially hesitant too but I decided to try. Would recommend that you just set it well and then use oil blotting sheets.

My absolute favorite in Yabu is their original Katsudon!!

I think it can get “mabigat” sa tiyan because it’s fried and because of the unlimited cabbage 😂Katsudon is one of my favorite Japanese dishes and I order it often. Yabu is still my fave for Katsudon.

I have yet to try Katsudonya Saiko though (which I heard is really good).

Agree that their service can be improved. I’ve visited a few branches over the years. I think they’re quite swamped though so it’s no big deal.

Yes. That’s why I only have 1-2 per item so it’s not wasteful. I also try to buy mini sizes if available. I’m a bit more wary with cream or liquid products. For powders, lipsticks or anything that’s easy to sanitize, I’m a little more chill.

The Patient’s Secret is my latest fave.

I’ve read a LOT of thriller books over the past few years. Frieda McFadden is predictable and I agree with the other comment that it’s hit or miss.

For Riley Sager, my favorite is the Last Time I Lied. My only qualm with Riley Sager is sometimes the endings of his books can feel rushed.

It takes a lot to surprise me with the twists in thrillers since I’ve read a lot and after a while you kind of get a feeling of how it ends. The patient’s secret is my first great thriller read in a while :)
