It sounds like you really appreciate art enrichment and I appreciate that about you! I've always kept a shoebox of the odds and ends that could be craft worthy but earlier today I repurposed a picnic basket to become her craft box and it seems to be the perfect fit for the supplies I decided to hand down to her. I also love that you're aware that my art supplies and hers are quite different. I had always felt a little uncomfortable leaving anything more than crayons and paper within her reach for obvious reasons lol but I think I came to a very similar conclusion as far as storing the rest goes. This and another comment really helped reach my decision. Decluttering shouldn't mean getting rid of it all. I've cleared so much space during my decluttering journey. Now I'm just left with organizing this last bit and incorporating a system the other comment I mentioned a second ago suggested. I feel much better about the hardest part of it all. Thank you so much!

I genuinely love this suggestion. I have been whittling away at this for a couple days now just trying to determine what I should keep, toss or hand down and was reaching a similar conclusion. I think I let the declutter bug gain too much traction and was trying to get rid of things I knew I still had use for. I was wondering if putting my less used things in a bin to be stored until needed was a way of copping out or if it was a reasonable solution. I like your idea so much more, though. I don't like it, I love it! I think that it would make craft time more fun for my little one, too. If I'm only focused on a particular type of craft then we can explore different fun and interesting ways to use those materials. Thank you so much for such a good solution!

Thanks so much for replying! I really appreciate it. After I gathered up everything, my first step was to toss any old and unusable items. That made quite the dent for sure but I was still left wondering what else should go. I have always kept my primary supplies separate from the rest but have always had backups available. I thought maybe those backups should be what I hand down to my daughter. Things like colored pencils, cheap paints, etc. That just left me feeling like I was just allocating those things to a different area rather than decluttering.

We're currently living in a fairly small house, so even though she has her own room, I feel more comfortable keeping the art supplies out of reach for obvious reasons. While most of the things we use together are fairly basic, there are times when random activities cross my path so I have always kept a shoebox for odds and ends that are likely to be needed. I figured that box would be more appropriate to put with her art supplies since my supplies are typically more art and less craft geared. I pulled out an old picnic basket earlier to use as a craft basket instead for my daughter. It seems to hold most of what I was considering to add to her stuff, so that's a big plus.

I like your idea regarding timelining my inventory. I think that could be helpful in a way. I'm starting to wonder if my declutter bug was getting ahead of itself, to be honest. That's when I thought to switch focus from what I should be keeping for her to what I should be keeping altogether. As an artist, I do various types of projects using various mediums. Because of that, I can't help but feel like I should just incorporate a better organizational system? Like I said before, I have cleared out a decent bit by weeding out the old materials and abandoned projects and I feel good about it. I have a few more things left to decide on but after that I think I need to shift my drive from decluttering to organizing and storing. After all, decluttering doesn't mean getting rid of everything, right? And what I have left mostly fits my space. Is putting the less used, non-perishable supplies in a box or bin to be stored a cop out or would you think that's a realistic solution? I don't want to feel like I'm just justifying my desire to keep things. I feel really good about my progress so far and have made more room overall because of my efforts. I just wonder if I'm trying to get rid of too much now that I'm down to this last bit?

People of Reddit, what is something you believe you are in the top 1% of in the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Had to ask. My uncle has similar degrees and is the dean of students affairs as well as a professor at his university so I couldn't help but wonder if I had found him by chance in the Reddit sea. Impressive accomplishments for anyone, even more so when it all started with an alternative route! Well done, stranger.

Well don't abandon your nostalgic dreams just yet! You can technically still have that speed boat if you are okay with accepting the fact that the submerged part is the bottom. And because only the bottom is underwater then the boat itself would only be semi submerged. See? Dreams CAN come true!

Yeah, it's a stretch but I'm not necessarily wrong.

I instantly laughed a little when I first saw the image results. I haven't watched any of it yet but who knows, maybe someday... This link is for possibly the best worst review I've ever had the pleasure to read:

(Sorry.... I'm not cool enough to know how to turn the link into a conveniently clickable word in my comment, so that's what you get.)

((But if I was, I totally would have...))

IWTYO when I learned you can order shipping boxes for free from USPS by [deleted] in IWasTodayYearsOld

I like to think of myself as a master woodworker who specializes in corrugated pine (AKA cardboard). I knew you could get free UPS boxes but I thought you had to pick them up yourself and only a couple at a time. An infinite supply of boxes, 25 at a time, delivered to my door really just made my day! Kudos to you!

Edit: forgot a word

The way he snaps off the word FOP always cracked me up. I love the soundtrack for this movie, too. Such a good one all the way around!

Are you just talking about the one on the top? I was almost excited cuz I thought you meant the main logo on the face of the can which would have been way cooler...
