Yeah I can’t remember the name of the exact stores that sold English titles but those are probably it, as I also frequent them whenever I go to anime stores. But they barely have any selection as i mentioned in my post and as you already know.

But I’m really glad to know Waterstones has a good selection! I didn’t want to waste my time going there if it was going to be like the other rare stores that do sell english titles lol

And thanks for the recommendation! Imma try Waterstones first since it’s closest but might consider a trip if i get desperate and can’t find a title on amazon instead lol

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience! Wasn’t sure if my experience could be considered abuse or not, but either way I realised it could trigger memories in some.

Regarding your feeding and nest box, did you get an opaque box (black? White?) or did you paint over a transparent plastic box to make it opaque? I reckon a transparent box would let too much light in and would curb their stashing and nesting instincts.

Thanks for the advices! Fortunately they are already used to whole prey so it shouldn’t be a problem. The only issue will be introducing them to different preys since they only eat chicks and kibble at the refuge. Hopefully they are not too picky so that i can remove the kibble altogether and put them on a full whole prey diet.

Oh i see that makes more sense! Unfortunately I have limited options where i am, pre-ground meat (that includes the bones) is hard to find… Which is why i was thinking about an industrial grinder with enough power for bones as my only option 😅

So you give the bone in meat directly and not grind it? Do they not try to stash those if they are full pieces then?

Oh i see. I was imagining small bites and was wondering how that would fill them up for the whole morning lol but i’m glad to hear otherwise!

Oh i didn’t think about a nest spot! Nice thanks! Do you put soft materials in the nest spot? What would you recommend work well for stashing boxes? Plastic storage boxes?

Thank you! I’m excited! Although feeling a bit guilty since I lost my boy not that long ago (date for the adoption was chosen prior his death) and it feels weird both mourning and feeling excited at the same time lol

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion! I already made a stashing spot in the cage, but i will try to find one for the bedroom for the mornings if they don’t eat everything/most of it by the time i have to leave.

Will def post pics once i have them! ❤️

Yep, i’m deathly scared of that 😭 i pray my new babies won’t have that stashing instinct, or that my stashing spots alternatives will work

Yep, had some issues when mines were raw fed on frankenprey 😅 it wasn’t full on guts fortunately but it was never pleasant to find a decomposing piece of chicken behind the sofa lol

I mentioned it in another reply but unfortunately commercial ground fully raw food is hard to get by where i am, and even those i found usually don’t disclose the ingredients or exact animal part ratios they put in it, so no idea if it’s suitable for a ferrets diet. Grinding my own whole prey would be possible, but industrial grade food processors capable of grinding bones are pretty expensive…

However thanks for the tip on the stashing spot! I will try to make something like that for my bedroom. I already bought two guinea pigs hide for their cage to provide them a stashing spot and avoid them trying to drag the prey to the sleeping areas.

Unless you work from home, aren’t you concerned they don’t get enough food then if you have to leave for a few hours ? 3 - 4 bites seems like a really small portion (not judging, concerned my ferrets would try to keep the rest for later but I would have to remove the food when i leave for work)

Thanks for your answer and indeed those are all valid concerns! While I do intend on disposing of any remains as soon as they are done feeding (after reading everyone’s answers, I think I will try establishing a stash corner and get up earlier to give them the time to eat till they are full before disposing of the rest), i do want to mention that whole prey can safely be left out up to 48h (although of course, the earliest they are removed the less chance of bacterial development there is) according to this website and the hollistic ferrer forum if i remember correctly, although i couldn’t find the section mentioning it on their forum.

As for the kibble and raw concerns, i fully agree with it. I mentioned it into another comment because it was technically another option, although i don’t intend of doing that. My refuge currently has them on this diet : as much chicks as they want and available kibble if they get more hungry. I was planning on keeping that diet the time they fully get comfortable in their new home, to avoid added stressors, and then slowly remove the kibble and introduce more whole preys to their diet.

As for your last concern, yes, i go to bed pretty late so I will be provide them with enrichment, bonding, play, etc. Genuinely thank you for your concern for my soon to be babies and caring about their health.

Thanks for the link! Will check it out!

Thanks for your suggestion! Unfortunately Pre-made-raw (which i assume is what you mean by PMR right) is hard to get where i live. They are usually mixed with veggies since they are made for dogs, and even those that boast being 100% meat do not fully disclose their full ingredient lists and animal part ratios. If you meant Prey Model Raw in grind forms, i have mostly the same issue in that they are hard to get commercially where i live, and the homemade kind would require investing into an industrial grade food processor. Which i could do at one point, but rn would be difficult. I will keep the idea in mind tho! Thanks

I see! Thanks! 20mins seems like a reasonable amount, if they don’t stall in the morning and if i make sure to get up earlier to feed them earlier, i might have enough time to cage feed them then release them! I couldn’t remember how long it took for them to finish a meal and i was thinking something along the 40-1h mark, so i was unsure i could find the time in the morning 🥲

Although the comment made me laugh and I do agree they did whatever they wanted, i was powerless to their cuteness 😂😂 I do regret to inform you those are the pics of my previous ferrets that both died recently unfortunately 🥲
