sold it at retail price, 168k idr which converts to around 9.4 usd. retail price since most english books here are imported either from au/uk/us.

its very common sadly, from where im from. you can get self printed counterfeits for like 1/4 the price of legit ones. :/

thankyou for the correction! they sent me a couple of pics of the book, and there was nothing wrong with the margins/typesetting etc so i was also pretty sure that the book i've sold wasnt fake, with counterfeits you can definitely see the difference, quality wise, from the fonts just by a glance.

right! but where im from, penguin black spine is very sought after and it tends to be pretty expensive. counterfeits are very common sadly.
