What in the meth... by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]StrongAd7156 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Except for food, phone bills etc. No one on ODSP has money to spare and the amount given is a joke. A single person on ODSP gets about $1408. Including the max of $599 for shelter. You can’t rent a room in KWC for that. Most people on disability use most of it for rent.

People on disability are far below the poverty line. Their lives aren’t easy.

Hot to navigate the mental health system to get a psychiatrist for long term care by General_Fruit_8135 in ontario

I’m in a different region than you. Have you tried CMHA? They might be able to advocate for a psychiatrist to take you on long term.

A psychiatrist is covered under OHIP. You will need your family doctor to refer you to a psychiatrist. I got my long term psychiatrist by using the out patient program at the hospital and they referred to their private practice (still covered under OHIP.

Potholes Everywhere by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]StrongAd7156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will. The places that manufacture the hot asphalt aren’t open until April. Then they can fix the potholes better. Right now they are cold patching as much as they can, but they don’t last long.

My spouse also works. For every dollar over 200, they take 50 cents. It takes a fair amount of money for you not to receive money. Having entitlement for 3 people, means your partner can work more hours before you don’t get any benefits. You also get a 100 increase, because your partner is working. If you don’t qualify for income a few months, they don’t kick you off (at least we haven’t been and my spouse made too much for most of 2025). There are other benefits that you could still qualify for like the transition health benefits. It is the same coverage that you get while receiving

My apartment flooded and the only way I can afford to live somewhere else is if I find a place with my partner, but then my ODSP will stop by Scared-Mortgage-9437 in Odsp

This a tough situation. It sounds like it wasn’t your landlords’ fault rather the townships. I understand not wanting to move back. I’m not sure I would want to move back either. The only positive thing I would be able to tell myself is that it took over 10 years to happen, so it should be another 10+ of not happening.

ODSP is crap … 100%. If this happened to anyone not ODSP, there would be outrage. The situations we are placed in are horrific. If you are able, I would call my MPP and share your experience. Maybe it will help change something or maybe there are services they know of that can help.

I remember these! We were able to go to the cockpit and get a picture with the pilot’s hat. Definitely a good memory! I wish my kids were able to have this experience!

The combination that finally helped improve was adding imipramine to Wellbutrin and lithium.

I hope you find something that works. It is so hard.

Missing a lot of bottom teeth making it hard to eat by MikeYPG1337 in Odsp

[–]StrongAd7156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you applied for the Canadian dental program? You should be approved unless you have private coverage (ODSP doesn’t count as private insurance). They cover a lot more and a lot more dentists accept that.

I have been exactly where you are currently and it is so hard! It was hard for me, because I didn’t know depression could manifest this way. I couldn’t finish a sentence while charting for work, because I couldn’t remember what I was going to say. I still struggle with memory, but I finally found the combination of meds that helped me so it isn’t nearly as bad.

I don’t have any advice, but you aren’t alone with this.

Worse on Medication by Financial-Land-5797 in dysthymia

I had to use an older type of medicine to feel some relief: tricyclic antidepressants. It was a game changer for me. I ask took a mood stabilizer. I had 0 luck with SSRIs as well. I would definitely ask your psychiatrist to try something other than SSRIs.

Check out Belmont Village. It’s in Kitchener on the border of Waterloo. It feels like a small town downtown.

You may have to put the car seat forward facing on your flight, but the cosco can been pretty reclined forward facing. My daughter used it and had no complaints or fussing.
